Welcome back to trying a quest! We are your quest buddies. We're here to play some rallicking DD.
SPEAKER_09Count on us to be here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08That's true. We're like uh a broken clock that once a week releases an episode.
SPEAKER_10And provides you emotional support.
SPEAKER_08I don't know if you know how clocks work. Once a week, a broken clock will tell the right time.
SPEAKER_10She's young. He never learned how to tell the analog clock.
SPEAKER_08That's true. That's not which he's. Is it pointing to on my click?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, there's no there's no like weak measure on an analog clock.
SPEAKER_08My new bit I've been doing is my girlfriend makes buttons and she cut out a button from a Playbill magazine that has a clock face on it. And I like to sometimes wear it on my sleeve so that I can be like, what time is it? And it's always just whatever time it is on that button. It's always like 8 15. I like that too.
SPEAKER_02And when does that podcast from that clock drop?
SPEAKER_08Um that drops also once a week because it's broken. Yeah, and that's when those are accurate. Yeah. We're gonna go around and introduce ourselves. We're gonna give our survival scores.
SPEAKER_10Oh, I'm I'm sorry, Spencer. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_08What is it, my friend Chloe?
SPEAKER_10No, I'm I'm sorry. I meant to talk to you about this um before we got here, but I thought that since we're going to, you know, cura plague, uh it would be good if we went around and talked about our characters' like home remedies that we have. Um I was gonna say like the remedies that our like our parents would give us, but I know that not uh every character at the table has But I can go first uh to set an example. To set an example. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, to set it to set a tone.
SPEAKER_10To set a tone. Hi everyone. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_08That was a good tone.
SPEAKER_10Thank you.
SPEAKER_08Easily the top ten tones.
SPEAKER_10Uh I'm Chloe O'Donnell, and I play Patchinities, aka Patch. Patch's home remedy that he does for himself uh now that he's kind of out on his own, is whenever he is getting like a cough or the sniffles or you know, it's feeling kind of just kind of congested, uh, he switches to menthol vapes and that just clears him right up. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_09Oh, from regular vapes.
SPEAKER_10Yes.
SPEAKER_08What are regular, what's in a regular vape?
SPEAKER_10Um, like strawberry guava, uh, but it cannot be real.
SPEAKER_08That cannot be really what's in it.
SPEAKER_03No, that's really artificial flavor.
SPEAKER_09It's really that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's 100% fruit juice.
SPEAKER_10It's not just pressurized with a really big ceramic. Yeah, so when it gets healthy. Yeah, and then afterwards he'll do like an orange juice vape to take that out. Yeah, get the vitamin C, um, his chicken noodles. You know, you're vape.
SPEAKER_08You're never supposed to hit an orange juice vape after you've thrown up. Do you or you after you've brushed your teeth? Do you know that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, because after you've had your mint vape.
SPEAKER_05I don't want to I don't want to hit that after I've thrown up either.
SPEAKER_10That's the thing about the thing. After I've hit my brush, my teeth vape.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Um, in my obligatory note, do not vape, even if it's menthol. Ah, nuts. Menthol is uh is worse. Um it hides the the danger. It hides the danger. It hides the danger. Yeah, meant for you. There's awesome tactical menthol cigarettes.
SPEAKER_08Badass. I feel like the problem with cigarettes is like badass marketing. They they they do it on purpose and it it it works.
SPEAKER_10Like Joe Camel was so cool, they couldn't use him anymore.
SPEAKER_08He was too cool. Exactly.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. If you had like these days be like Marble Reds, we don't hide the danger.
SPEAKER_00Like that'd always be like absolutely.
SPEAKER_09You have to go into voiceover work because that's such a good voice.
SPEAKER_12Hey, I'm I'm available. Six foot two, willing to shave.
SPEAKER_09Six foot two, willing to shave for voices overwork.
SPEAKER_00They go, they go, your body raw. We want your body raw.
SPEAKER_09Um we like you clean shaven for this recording.
SPEAKER_05You sound different with the mic's getting out of the mic.
SPEAKER_08It's actually a little bit Marlborough Reds. Let's roll. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_09That's patch.
SPEAKER_08I'll go next. Just switching things up. My name is Spencer Wilden. I'm the DM. My uh uh home remedy is I think the same as we'll say Yemma's, which is VIX Vaporub can cure anything. Um stub your toe, a little bit of VIX, a little bit of VIX on your chest, not on your toe. If you breathe it, it will fix you. And that's true. It's the menthol. It's the menthol.
SPEAKER_09Without the vape. Is that what it is? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08That's why it smells like that. Yeah.
unknownDamn.
SPEAKER_08Good thing that I don't know how to get a vape.
SPEAKER_09It's very easy.
SPEAKER_08Good thing I'll never know.
SPEAKER_09They kind of throw them at you as you're watching. It's kind of hard to be worried. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, I I just simply don't know how.
SPEAKER_10Just go up to any teenager.
SPEAKER_08Hey, hey, I need a vape. Hey, kid, can I bum a cigarette? You there, boy. Could I borrow your vape and also what day is it?
SPEAKER_09I was just It's Christmas Day.
SPEAKER_04Can I bomb your oh just vape in the window? The boy as big as you are.
SPEAKER_00Tell me the Gratchit family. Do that boys still pump fat cotton.
SPEAKER_09And a Merry Christmas to you.
SPEAKER_08So that's my that's my belief.
SPEAKER_09Um, I'll go next. My name is Sarah Katrenich, and I play Lucy Nae Not. And Lucy didn't have a parent to give her a home remedy. I think Facilia probably like would give her an orange, you know, or something if she was feeling I mean, although hard to come by in Siren's purge, probably. Yeah. Maybe that's why Lucy just did not connect. That's what that was. That was what that was for. Um, because I had good espresso in Siren's purge. Yes. But isn't that not always what happens? Yeah. You know, small towns have great coffee. But anyway, Lucy, what she would figure out, what she figured out for herself was that she would um use her innate magic. Um, I don't think she realized that what she was doing though, but she would get make that water really hot in the bathtub and stick her head in it for as long as she could stand. I think she's made it to like three minutes and 13 seconds. Wow.
SPEAKER_05That's a long time.
SPEAKER_09Like, like uh freaking That's a whole song.
SPEAKER_10Yes. Like Kate Winslett learning to hoard her breath. Yes, yes. It's exactly that. Yeah, she learned how to hoard her breath cruise record. Like five minutes or something.
SPEAKER_08That's so cool because Tom Record Tom Tom Records. Tom Record Cruise. That's what I call him. Because he's always breaking them.
unknownSuch a good point.
SPEAKER_08Um, um, I like that this has a parallel with fan favorite, and by that I mean my favorite story about Lucy, which is when she was dragged on the undertow of a boat.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it's exactly the scariest thing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Was she sick that day?
SPEAKER_09Um no, she wasn't afterwards. That was her at her best.
SPEAKER_08That was that was peak Lucy. You got it. Awesome.
SPEAKER_05Hey everyone. My name is Shane Jordan, and I play Janice Apalan. Uh, and Janice's mom would use snake oil, comma, but it works. Okay. Very good. Snake oil but real. Snake oil but real for any uh standard ailment, you know, have a little rash, dry skin, snake oil. Feeling a little coffee, snake oil. Now, I do think that she snuck some like druidic healing magic in there since she is uh on the druid council and is a druid, so she probably she probably snuck a little magic in there, but she'd always just say it's snake oil.
SPEAKER_10Are you able to extract snake oil from histos? Is that something he is he would like? Um or not like, but is that okay to do to a snake?
SPEAKER_05I mean, I can extract venom.
SPEAKER_10Is that snake oil?
SPEAKER_05I hope not.
SPEAKER_10Um can you get snake oil from an alive snake? Oh gosh. I don't know. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_08Well, you know, he can resummon uh histos at the end of every day, so he just boils histose. Oh gosh. You're lucky he doesn't have a horse animal companion. You'd have a lot of glue at the end of every day.
SPEAKER_05It would be and it would also it's also annoying when he's riding on my shoulders.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I think it's just snake in name only.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I guess I never really knew what it was.
SPEAKER_09It's just baby oil.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I yeah. Maybe it's uh oil that only snakes can find, like a truffle pig.
SPEAKER_09Oh, I love that.
SPEAKER_08That's cool. Yeah, yeah. Snakes have huge nostrils.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Well, they smell with their skin too. That's cool.
SPEAKER_09Okay, I like that a lot. I was gonna say it's from a really gnarly tree, like like an olive tree, where it looks like a snake. It's a really good smaller.
SPEAKER_05So it's all like turned around, so it's called snake oil, even though it's such a but it's actually the spirited tree of the great ancient one who was once a snake. Oh, who became a tree. Yes, and now has a very oily fruit.
SPEAKER_10That's so cool. The snake fruit.
SPEAKER_05Yes, snake fruit.
SPEAKER_10Maybe we'll find some snake fruit in Plutopolis. Yes, I'm in, guys.
SPEAKER_05You sound like a local there, Pat. I've decided I will.
SPEAKER_08Plutopolis. I will be in this one. I will be in this one.
SPEAKER_02Uh that's such an excellent segue to um Rex's fact.
SPEAKER_03Hi, I'm Matt Morton. I play Rex. When Rex's family became rich, they moved to a property that had a bit of an uh olive orchard on it. And uh, whenever Rex was feeling bad or down or anything, his dad would make him go pick olives. Oh, Jesus. So that's not a remnant labor. Yeah, he said work it out.
SPEAKER_10Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Work it out, work it out, Rex.
SPEAKER_05So kind of like a rub some dirt in it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Yeah, pretty cool. I got really good at reaching the high branches. I think that's why I'm almost six feet.
SPEAKER_08You think you got taller because you're stretched by how much labor you did?
SPEAKER_05Do you think that's why giraffes have long necks because they keep reaching up for leaves?
SPEAKER_03Because like mean dads.
SPEAKER_05That's what evolution did. Yeah, evolution. Maybe over many generations. Yeah, every giraffe is like. That's not what Janice said.
SPEAKER_08That is what Charles Darwin said about every animal. Yeah. Is that mean like the yeah, the reason you know that fish got legs is because its dad was like, you need to get a job. Get out of the animal.
SPEAKER_10Just go in and show them your resume. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08You spend too much time watching drag race. Get outside and climb on the land.
SPEAKER_09And that's why that's why sharks and tortoises have been around for so long. Because nice dads. Democrats. Yeah. They're Quakers, actually.
SPEAKER_02Hey, those are my people. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Historical, pretty, pretty good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, Rex was only supposed to be 5'8, and he's 5'11 and a half. So wow.
SPEAKER_09Sucks he couldn't make that big six. But also, that's why he doesn't like him. Because maybe his dad was only 5'9.
SPEAKER_03You're taller than your dad.
SPEAKER_08Definitely. That is a Rosetta Stone for your entire D.
SPEAKER_09A short, angry dad.
SPEAKER_10Oh, a short, angry military man is so real.
SPEAKER_09I'm taller than my dad was. I thought Rex's dad was gonna be really tall and hot, but interesting. No, I always pictured him like a little angry man. You know what? Yeah. I feel like we're interesting.
SPEAKER_02You think Picross is a big next big guy?
SPEAKER_08Gross.
SPEAKER_09I can't wait till we meet him.
SPEAKER_08Shall we dive into the recap?
SPEAKER_09Splash. I'm ready.
SPEAKER_08Cyclop Solidarity. Hostile hotelier, a shattered Seder. Last episode, our party found and defeated the murderous hotel manager Valdric and Katya the mercenary at the Olive Guard Inn.
SPEAKER_09You can't handle the truth.
SPEAKER_08Protecting their ally, the werewolf, but cool about it, Highweaver Nerva, the party discovered that Valdric, aiming for a promotion, staged a werewolf attack to frame Nerva and to protect Rex, the son of his boss, Picross Rex. Separated from the party, Patch broke his dishorn, further attuning himself to whatever force, be it some god, be it something else, granted him his power, and further fracturing his own self-perception. And Lucy acknowledged for the first time her imaginary friend Shelby.
SPEAKER_10Oh yeah. How could we forget Shelby?
SPEAKER_08We're also well- She's been here the whole time. After bidding goodbye to friends new and old, including the stage witch Yemma, the party left the Olive Guard Inn for Plutopolis, Janice's plague-ridden hometown, seeking to end the infection and save the town however possible. With a few leads in dreams and visions, Janice has seen his sister, an unadorned wooden box, and a simple warehouse in the mercantile district. But now we cut to a hill overlooking the dell in which the city of Plutopolis sits.
SPEAKER_10Lovadel.
SPEAKER_08Hill and Dell.
SPEAKER_10Lovadel. Hi. We're looking at her.
SPEAKER_01She scuttles into a bush.
SPEAKER_10No, she walks gracefully. You guys see she goes, No, she doesn't.
SPEAKER_05But she's wearing a beautiful sequin gown. Uh but she's and she's barefoot.
SPEAKER_08And she's really gonna looking down into the city of Plutopolis, you see on the outskirts various suburbs forming a ring around the city, uh, with a river separating the suburbs from the city proper. The city proper walls divided into sections that meet at a point in the middle, where on a clear day you would be able to vaguely make out a resplendent palace of uh chromatic glass. You also see in one district a massive tower rises into the clouds, a massive austere stone tower that looks forty stories tall. Damn, that's tall.
SPEAKER_09It's hard to write one.
SPEAKER_05That's tall for wherever we are, right? A tall tale.
SPEAKER_09What is the weather like?
SPEAKER_08Well, so you would be seeing a very clear city. Oh, great, but not in the midst of the plague. What? Swirling above the city is a massive cloud of spores.
SPEAKER_05Oh, sort of like Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's exactly like Los Angeles is. It's gotten a lot better lately.
SPEAKER_08Uh uh, there's various houses and buildings completely covered in this cloud-like spore substance that is just seeping into the city where once the walls were very brightly painted, you see in in in the grout lines themselves from the distance with your elven eyes. I see them. There's little specks of plague motes. There's a a greater presence of figures on the wall surrounding the Plutopolis, mem members of the Plutopolis guard, but you don't see a ton of people. This place has been decimated by the plague.
SPEAKER_05So welcome to my beautiful home. Uh, you know, it's the richest and biggest city uh in the north of Elspar, so uh it's pretty magnificent. Yeah, take a look at her.
SPEAKER_03Looks great, Janice.
SPEAKER_05I know you can't see it right now, but there is this beautiful uh glass palace, multicolor, gorgeous right in the middle. I can't wait to show ya.
SPEAKER_09This place is disgusting. It looks like there's a haze over everything.
SPEAKER_05Okay, hey, be nice.
SPEAKER_09Oh my god. Janice. It's worse than I thought it was gonna be. Janice. Ugh.
SPEAKER_04Lucy.
SPEAKER_10Janice, be real. Do we need to be wearing like a like masks? Or are we safe to be just walking around out there?
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm sure you're fine. Janice puts on a plug mask.
SPEAKER_10I hate like a bird mask? Janice, do we I mean do we need one of those?
SPEAKER_05Oh, no, no. I just had this in my bag. It's it's just it's for my goth look.
SPEAKER_10It's really cool, but are we gonna get sick?
SPEAKER_05I'm just shoving histos in there. Everything's fine. No, you guys are gonna be fine.
SPEAKER_09Wait, Janice, what are you leaving us?
SPEAKER_05No, we're all going down there together.
SPEAKER_09But we don't have masks. We don't want to breathe in this in this disgusting, horrible place.
SPEAKER_05Nah, you'll be fine. What's going on? What's going on with you, man?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you're acting so weird.
SPEAKER_05No, it's fine. I just haven't been home in a while. You know, we're coming up on the anniversary of the plague. Everything's fine though. Um, nothing's been bad. This is totally look at that. That is the definition of fixable. Am I right?
SPEAKER_10That place war the water is black.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05And you know what they say? You if you drink a little dirt, you know, that's how you get your iron. I've never I have heard that. I have heard that.
SPEAKER_09Genus, is this I've I've never seen a worse place.
SPEAKER_10Is this how much not good is this as when you left?
SPEAKER_05Well, I left about six months ago, and it was bad, and now I'm here six months later, and it's maybe, I don't know, give or take, twice as bad?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's bad. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's bad.
SPEAKER_03It it looks bad, buddy. Do you see your house from up here?
SPEAKER_05Uh well, I'm in the suburbs, so I'm around the side.
SPEAKER_03Uh is that next to any of the houses that look like they're being decimated by plague?
SPEAKER_08Looking down into the valley, it seems that the uh plague-decimated places, they're dotted around the city, and there are a few in the suburbs, but uh it looks like your suburb of Sylvan Heights is not yet fallen to this miasma.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm in that clear spot there in Sylvan Heights.
SPEAKER_10Oh yeah. Oh, great.
SPEAKER_05You say so. Let's go.
SPEAKER_10That I can do. I hope that Pizza Point is still open.
SPEAKER_05I'm sure it is. And we're headed there.
SPEAKER_08Where the chromatic palace type thing would sit, you see, is a very, very thick cloud of spores that is completely obscu obfuscating the center of the city.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, right there in the middle. That's where Pizza Point is.
SPEAKER_10That big fuzzy dick?
SPEAKER_05I'm sorry?
SPEAKER_10Looks like a big fuzzy dick in the middle of the square.
SPEAKER_05Is that No. Lucy, do you have something to say?
SPEAKER_10No.
SPEAKER_05Lucy, you look like your your face is turning red. It looks like you really gotta get something out. She has a lot of.
SPEAKER_10I don't know what you see. I don't know what I don't know what you see, Lucy. I see a big column covered with fuzzy looking spores.
SPEAKER_03I just I've never no I also have an ever, nope. You know? Great. Thanks for watching. I'm with you. Yes. And we'll go to the place where it's not so scary. And that seems like Janice's house is not terribly overrun by disgusting stuff.
SPEAKER_05I think let's set up at my house. Uh, you know, you can you guys can sleep in the den. We'll set up some blankets. Um, I just I just want to check in, say hi to my parents, make sure my sister's okay. So I think we go to uh Sylvan Heights to start.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Hey Janice.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Are you at all nervous about the fact that your parents haven't seen you for six months and that you're kind of a changed human since the last time you saw them, and they might have different opinions about you than you had before?
SPEAKER_05Uh I feel like I look the same.
SPEAKER_10Are you gonna wear that scary plague mask when you talk to them?
SPEAKER_05I don't know, maybe. I feel like I look the same. I mean, what's changed really?
SPEAKER_10It's kind of off-putting to look into your black, glassy eyes and see nothing.
SPEAKER_05Okay, first off, my eyes are gold.
SPEAKER_10Second Not in this plague mask, buddy.
SPEAKER_05Oh, right, here, let me take that off. Beautiful.
SPEAKER_10Okay, there we go. Now we hear that handsome face. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_05Um, oh, you mean because I I started wearing my glasses again. Yeah, that'll surprise them.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, okay, great.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Sure.
SPEAKER_10Lead the way, I guess.
SPEAKER_08Alright, let's go. Down the path into Plutopolis as you begin to near. You see some activity, not nearly the amount of activity you'd see on a normal day coming into Plutopolis pre-plague. There's a lot of people kind of glaring at you through their the slats of their windows, a lot of fires just kind of burning to like create smoke to try to keep away the plague spores.
SPEAKER_09A woman sits with a flower basket next to them, warming her hands.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09And starts dreaming about a different life where maybe she has a chair to sit on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Two kids are kicking a rock back and forth.
SPEAKER_05Jim's just waving hi to everyone. Oh, hey. How ya doing? Hey, it's been a while.
SPEAKER_08A window shuts in your direction.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Fuck you too, Mrs. Janssen. Let's keep going. Fuck you! She's like that. She's like that.
SPEAKER_00I've never liked him.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, she says that all the time. Guys, I don't think I've ever heard Janice curse before.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was kind of weird.
SPEAKER_05Everything's normal, and I've never been more normal than I am today. Let's go!
SPEAKER_08You make your way to the river surrounding Plutopolis. You're able to follow it. Uh occasionally you see a barge pass. Barges are like the mass transit in the city. And it, you know, it just keeps on going on. Eventually you find your way to beautiful Sylvan Heights. A sign is in front of the gate to the community, and the sign says, Welcome to Sylvan Heights. Population, as many as ki as many as want to be here.
SPEAKER_10Oh, oh, that's nice. That's kind of a good idea.
SPEAKER_05It's a very welcoming community.
SPEAKER_10What are the HOA fees like?
SPEAKER_05Um, they're actually very reasonable.
SPEAKER_10Yeah?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_10What's reasonable?
SPEAKER_05200 gold a year?
SPEAKER_10Maybe where's money here's made up. Yeah. This is gold city or something, so I don't know what I was expecting.
SPEAKER_09Um, Janice, is this where you grew up?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I grew up in Platopolis.
SPEAKER_09In this neighborhood?
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_09So do you have like memories of of places that are around here?
SPEAKER_05Oh, sure, you betcha. Down by the river at the border, I'd take my sister and we'd skip racks.
SPEAKER_10That's nice. That's nice.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, cool.
SPEAKER_10I guess it didn't look like it does now.
SPEAKER_05If you'd look out, you would see sunshine. Um, and uh oh, the mist would sparkle like rainbows across the city almost every morning. Perfect, dewy mornings, filled with sunshine, and that's how I see everything right now. That's what I'm looking at. What are you guys seeing?
SPEAKER_09You guys like literally the opposite.
SPEAKER_03Do you guys think that it was always like this? And maybe he's just gone he's been crazy this whole time.
SPEAKER_09That's a good point. I didn't even think about that. Oh my gosh, he knows my secret.
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_09My my my secrets. He knows them. If the if if this it oh oh yeah, he's he might not be safe.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you're spit the big secret. Yeah, you have so many little secrets. I was just I know.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, we've we've trusted this guy a lot.
SPEAKER_03You guys talked about how nice it is here? Yes, yes, yeah, so nice. You're cool, right? Yeah, I'm cool.
SPEAKER_08Lining the street, there are multiple split level homes with kind of uh marble columns holding up the roofs. You pass. Also in the middle of the neighborhood, as you head to Janice's cul-de-sac, a beautiful field of druidic infused soil where you can see before you in real time a plant growing and bearing a fruit.
SPEAKER_10Wow. Whoa.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you guys want a snack on the way in?
SPEAKER_10I don't want to eat anything that grows here. That's a good point. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Lucy could do it.
SPEAKER_10Oh, I'll try it. Can I do like an arcana check to see if it would help it not be plaguey?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_10Let me let me check that carrot, Lucy.
SPEAKER_05Like I can detect it with a spell.
SPEAKER_10Oh, okay. Look for it. Could look at it with a 13.
SPEAKER_05That's fair.
SPEAKER_08On the way into the neighborhood, you saw a lot of kind of infected soil. It seems that whatever magic has been cast on this soil to make these crops grow faster has not degraded the quality of the crops and has in fact protected the soil a little bit from the blight.
SPEAKER_10Oh, great. Yeah, chance we can have some?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you're welcome to it.
SPEAKER_10I'll have a carrot. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I just ate. Rex, sometimes you have to have a vegetable. You can't just persist on little smokies.
SPEAKER_03I there's vegetables mixed into the little smokies, I think.
SPEAKER_05I don't think that's right.
SPEAKER_03In the factory, they make them.
SPEAKER_10Rex, have you ever had Rex, have you ever had Hickama? You might like Hickama.
SPEAKER_03Hickam, what?
SPEAKER_10Hickama.
SPEAKER_03It's like a spicy badge.
SPEAKER_05I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_10It's like a spicy. I'm sorry. I'm just so.
SPEAKER_05Wow, Rex is being so weird today. Am I right, guys? Am I right? Yeah. Is it Rex? I'm sorry, guys. I'm being weird today.
SPEAKER_10Um which one's yours, Janice? Your house. Um you're a cul-de-sac boy.
SPEAKER_05I am, isn't it? This one?
SPEAKER_10A sack boy.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. You point down the center of the cul-de-sac to a lovely little house with a man in front of it. He's fixing a gutter and he's up on a ladder, kind of messing with one of the fittings. Is that your dad?
SPEAKER_05That is my dad.
SPEAKER_08Dad! Dad, I'm home! Midas Apollon turns back to you and goes, Janice! Oh my god! And the ladder falls out from under him and he grabs under the gutter. He goes, Cramp! Cramp!
SPEAKER_00Oh! Oh cramp! Oh cramp! Oh cramp! Oh cramp! Oh cramp! Oh cramp! Oh little cramp. Step in the window, step in the window. Oh someone I'm gonna fall. Oh cramp. I got you, Dad. You can cramp. I got you, my. Oh my son! Oh my god, sonny, you're back!
SPEAKER_05Hi gosh, Dad. I missed you. Hi. He gives you a hug. I give him a hug.
SPEAKER_07Oh, you look so different. Your glasses!
SPEAKER_05I know I'm wearing glasses. Can you believe?
SPEAKER_07Oh my god, golf with glasses. Wow.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_07No, I mean it's fun. Your sister's gotten golf too.
SPEAKER_05Has she? Yes. Oh my gosh. I haven't seen her in so long. She's probably grown up to I can't even imagine.
SPEAKER_08Your whole six months.
SPEAKER_05A whole six months.
SPEAKER_07You think it had been a c like 12 years? She's shooting up? Um, hi.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm so sorry. Dad, these are my friends.
SPEAKER_08Oh, hi! This this man who is he's also an elf like Janice, a wood elf, but he's short for an elf. He's like 5'11. He brushes his hands on his clothes and steps out to shake all your hands.
SPEAKER_07He goes, Hi, I'm Minus Apollon, I'm Janice's father. Hi, I'm I'm Patch. Oh, Patch, nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. I really like your suspenders.
SPEAKER_10Thank you. Thank you very much. Of course. I wear them every day and no one has complimented them.
SPEAKER_08Yes. And who's who is this one with the blue freckles?
SPEAKER_09Uh hi. I'm I'm Lucinae.
SPEAKER_08Oh, Lucinae, what a beautiful name. You know, that um could have been my grandmother's name if she wasn't named Janet.
SPEAKER_09Thank you.
SPEAKER_08You know, that's how we named Janice after was his grandmother Janet.
SPEAKER_09Wow, that's nice. That that could have been all this whole time, and they've never said anything about that. Thanks, guys.
SPEAKER_10Yo, Janice, why did you never tell Lucy though? I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_05Why are we getting in trouble for telling you didn't tell me? Well, you could have told her. I didn't know your grandma's name was Janet. And whose fault is that? Yours. Agree to disagree.
SPEAKER_07Uh, and you and you there with the oh, I I love the egregious belt.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. I'm uh I'm Rex.
SPEAKER_07Oh, well, nice to meet you. Rex, come on, uh come on in. I'll make you guys a little lunch.
SPEAKER_08Uh, your mom is on a council meeting.
SPEAKER_05Oh, at the council?
SPEAKER_08Uh here, here. They they they they're having to do um sort of not not in the in the chromatic chromatic palace anymore.
SPEAKER_05They're not going out.
SPEAKER_08No, it's sort of fallen really bad to the plague.
SPEAKER_05I guess that makes sense. It does look a little worse than when I left.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, so we've got some company, but it's fine. Yeah, I I you know, you know them. Wait, sorry, we have company. There are other people here? Where are we crashing something?
SPEAKER_08Oh no, no crashing. No crashing in the Appallon home. Well, you can crash here, but you're not crashing anything.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, because I could have been family in name. So let's go, guys. Sure. Welcome home.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, absolutely. Our home is your home too, Lucine.
unknownHa!
SPEAKER_05Yeah, come on in. Come on, yeah, yeah, guys. They won't mind at all. We'll just we'll just pop in, I'll say hi, um, and then uh we can go find my sister.
SPEAKER_10Is your sister sure your sister's not here?
SPEAKER_06Oh, uh no, she's she actually got a little place in the city.
SPEAKER_05She got a place in the city? Yep. And you let her stay there?
SPEAKER_08Well, uh she she's uh sort of uh really pushed for it. Well, because she has to stay at work. Uh she's doing some work at the arc cannery, and so she she wanted to stay by work, so she's not having to commute because when you commute, you're more likely to get you know the the the the the the plague run into the plague bringer, god forbid, um, or anything else.
SPEAKER_09The plague bringer? Plague bringer.
SPEAKER_08Oh yeah, uh, you know, he's uh this nasty little fellow.
SPEAKER_10Um he has skeleton pauldrons?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_10That's one of those death priests, Janice.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. Uh Dad, I saw a death priest. Should I tell the council this that I saw a death priest?
SPEAKER_00Um, sure!
SPEAKER_10I'm just so glad to see you, buddy.
SPEAKER_05I'm so glad to see you, Dad. Mr.
SPEAKER_10Apollon, um, you mentioned that Janice's sister also went goth. Do you know like about when that transition occurred?
SPEAKER_05Oh, um two months ago?
SPEAKER_10Janus, isn't that when you turned golf as well? Because of someone you met?
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, you know.
SPEAKER_10Because of someone you met?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you don't think that's Cersei met Farica?
SPEAKER_10What if she's the other half of the stuff? Can I point to a message to Lucy so we don't clue in um Janus' dad? Yeah, what's going on? What if what if Cersei is also working for Farrica and and that's why she has that box?
SPEAKER_05Farrica would.
SPEAKER_10Uh was she goth before you left?
SPEAKER_05No, but that doesn't mean that she's hanging out with Farrika.
SPEAKER_10Does she have a snake too?
SPEAKER_05She would never dabble in Farrica.
SPEAKER_10Cause you wouldn't?
SPEAKER_05What are you saying she learned by watching me? I'm just saying We weren't even together two months ago.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, cut from the same cloth. I'm just saying, you know, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. You know, it's not a bad thing that she's doing. It's just something that maybe you should keep an eye on.
SPEAKER_05Oh, she better not be she better not have anything to do with Farrika. We're gonna have a talking tool.
SPEAKER_10Why is it so bad that you do two with that you'll feel bad that she would too? Rules for thee and not for me.
SPEAKER_05Well it I I'm doing this so she doesn't have to hang out with Farica.
SPEAKER_10Well, she doesn't know that it looks like right now. Maybe we'll have another patch Nikki uh scenario.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Well, Nikki was kind of, you know.
SPEAKER_10Nikki was kind of what? Whoa.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Nikki was kind of, you know.
SPEAKER_10Nikki was kind of what?
SPEAKER_05Working for the uh unbound.
SPEAKER_10To help me?
SPEAKER_05That's what I'm trying to help you.
SPEAKER_10So now Cersei's working for the death priest to help you. Is that what's happening? Well, I don't know. Are you gonna lie to her?
SPEAKER_05How is that gonna happen? No. Yeah. I'm gonna I'm gonna tell my sister the truth.
SPEAKER_06You are. Let's remember that, everyone. Whoa, everyone look got really quiet and is looking really angry. Is everything okay? Everything's gonna be a good idea.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we're sorry, Mr. Apollon.
SPEAKER_03They do that sometimes.
SPEAKER_05Okay, okay. I just I I we were we were just thinking real hard about how I I uh succeeded in my mission to to meet Farrica, you know, the goddess of medicine. Oh, good! Yeah, good, yeah.
SPEAKER_07And she's she's gonna bring a cure?
SPEAKER_05She's she did. Oh, you're the cure, son. I I don't want to hype it up that much, Lucy, but You're the my son, the cure.
SPEAKER_07No.
SPEAKER_10Janice is the best healer I've ever seen. He cured he cured a little girl of the blood flu.
SPEAKER_05The blood flu! I dicked your blood you know, I dicked your blood flu. Oh, what that is just darling. That is awesome! Yeah, and now I'm gonna uh now I'm gonna help uh save this city. Oh, thank god. This has been a horrible year. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09And this place sucks.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it has been pretty junky.
SPEAKER_10Um, does the plague have a name?
SPEAKER_05Do you guys call it something or just Well, the scientific name is Magianosis.
SPEAKER_10Magianosis?
SPEAKER_05But we mostly just call it the astral plague or the ass plague.
SPEAKER_06Asplague. Asplag. A lot of the young ones have taken to calling it the ass plague. I get it.
SPEAKER_05That's funny. It's the astral plague. It's Asplague. Ass plague.
SPEAKER_09Does it hurt your butt? No. Okay. That's an apt um name for it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Yeah. Uh Midas leads you inside through a a wonderful living room with uh do you want to describe actually the the inside of the house?
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. It's a little bit eclectic in that my mother is on the Druid Council. So there is a lot of natural wood. Um, there's sort of plants everywhere, but it's mixed in with some of the stuff that like my sister's got bookcases everywhere, um, because she tends to dabble. She's a, you know, she just loves romanticy. Um, and she loves, she's very bookish. She's she's studying um wizardry a little bit. Uh, and so there's also like books and like little trinkets everywhere. Um, and then also my dad being a goldsmith, he's kind of a tinkerer like Pat. So there's little tools and things around as well.
SPEAKER_10Oh, cool.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. He he grabs off of the shelf a little like carved cow and he goes, Does anyone want this? I do. All right. I finished it recently.
SPEAKER_09Thank you. A quart of corn and poses.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I tried to, I wanted to borrow that from Cersei, but she said that by no under no circumstances could I read it.
SPEAKER_03What kind of poses are they doing?
SPEAKER_09Oh, they're farming.
SPEAKER_03That's really part.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it sounds a little boring, right?
SPEAKER_03You said you do you uh Janice told me you work with gold.
SPEAKER_09Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Do you you think you could maybe make my bell buckle gold? Oh, maybe. Because right now I think it's just steel or something.
SPEAKER_08We'll talk, we'll talk, we'll talk. But I'm sure Janice's mom wants to see him, so that's right. We can do it later. We'll do it later. We'll do it later. We'll do it later. We have buddy.
SPEAKER_03Just remember.
SPEAKER_08Okay. He write you he he very like laboriously, not trying to seem laborious, but like he he does like find a piece of paper and write down talk to Rex about gold buckle on cocky belt.
SPEAKER_03Love it. You're great. Thank you. You too.
SPEAKER_09Is NPR playing in the background? Oh, yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_08You hear, you hear uh how many Subaros are out from you coming from the radio.
SPEAKER_10I was trying to think about a pun for Jerry's Gross.
SPEAKER_08As you approach the door to your mom's office, you hear from the inside voices of the other council members.
SPEAKER_09Oh, the council's happening here. Oh, I was thinking it was gonna be virtually, like they were just gonna be calling in.
SPEAKER_03No, everyone's here. I didn't know Janice's mom was so important.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah, she's just pretty impressive.
SPEAKER_03All he's told us is his dad does gold. He didn't say anything about his mom.
SPEAKER_10To be fair, Janice hasn't told us a lot about any of his family.
SPEAKER_05I feel like I've told you my mom's a druid and on the council.
SPEAKER_10You have. You told me when we were working at the Wolf's Bane.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's right. Yeah. I guess I wasn't there.
SPEAKER_10Anyway.
SPEAKER_05We thought you were gonna get murdered by the head of the hotel at that point.
SPEAKER_10We were dealing with people helping you.
SPEAKER_05Not back.
SPEAKER_08You hear like uh uh the room suddenly goes quiet, and then uh a voice goes, Ugh, I've gotta go check. Someone's knocking on the door. Don't they know that we're meeting and then this figure opens the door and it's a small portly man with like a tie uh and a resplendent purple vest. Uh you recognize this as the head of the merchant district, Dodd Ratley.
SPEAKER_03Janice, your mom is past Dodd.
SPEAKER_08Hi, Mr. Ratley. Past Dodd, your mom turns. Janice, would you like to describe your mom?
SPEAKER_05Oh my gosh, yes. Okay. So my mom has uh she's so she's also an elf. She's very tall, she has very long brown, wavy hair. A hundred percent. It's very much like goes down to her waist. She's wearing like flowy silks that are like, you know, floral printed. Uh she's very in the the like hippie way, but at the same time, it's like it kind of forms into like a pant suit. So it looks like it looks like the coziest pantsuit you've ever seen, and it's like belted with like a white silk like wrap around the middle. Um and it goes all the way down to the floor and it kind of flares out. Um it's it's giving like 60s silk a little bit.
SPEAKER_09It's disco.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Uh Janice gets his gold eyes from his dad, obviously. Um, so his mom's kind of got these like bright green eyes, and but she's also very tall.
SPEAKER_10I'm I've I imagine she's just the most beautiful person that's a best.
SPEAKER_05The most beautiful ageless woman that you've ever seen, basically.
SPEAKER_10Fuck me.
SPEAKER_08Her floral printed outfit is threaded through with real vines, and like some of the flowers are printed on. Some of the flowers are real flowers coming out of the fabric. And as she sees Janice, she goes, pause the meeting.
SPEAKER_07Pause the meeting, Janice! Oh, Janice, come in. Hi, mom. Oh, Janice, you're back.
SPEAKER_05I made it back. I brought friends.
SPEAKER_07Friends! Oh, it's so good to meet you all.
SPEAKER_05This is uh this is Rex, and this is Patch, and this is Lucy.
SPEAKER_06Rex, Patch, Lucy? Oh, it's wonderful to meet you. I am Pythia Apollon. I am Janice's mother. Nice to meet you.
SPEAKER_10Ah you're pretty.
SPEAKER_03Hi. Oh, uh kiss your hand.
SPEAKER_06Yes.
SPEAKER_05Um sorry, Mom, I didn't mean to I didn't mean to interrupt the meeting, but I figure, you know.
SPEAKER_06Oh, it's it's okay. We were just talking about an aid package. Um, everyone, everyone, Janice is back.
SPEAKER_08You see, uh and recognize a number of the figures in the room. You recognize, first of all, Dod Ratley, the little man in the purple vest. You recognize the oldest man you've ever seen in your life, Ebenezer Bones. Yep.
SPEAKER_12He's uh I cannot wait to learn about Ebenezer Bones.
SPEAKER_09May I kiss your hands?
SPEAKER_05May I kiss your bones.
SPEAKER_08He's licking his lips and he's um They're just not getting any wetter. They're not getting any wetter, and he's he's got like pretty good posture, but he's clutching a uh gnarled wooden staff. He's the head of the Arconery.
SPEAKER_12In Arc 3, can we bring back uh mouth noises?
SPEAKER_08Yeah. You also see High Sun Georgiana, who is the uh head priestess of Heliad here and represents the temple district. She's got uh resplendent golden armor and um also has brown hair. Then you see a man in armor who is pretty old. He looks a little bit like J.K. Simmons. Yeah. You recognize this as General Triocus. Of course. Whoa. Yeah. Who is the head of the military. And then uh the last council member you see is unknown to you. She looks very wealthy. She's got on a flowing burnt orange robe and a lot of golden rings.
SPEAKER_05Oh, interesting. Would I have known the council person who was before her?
SPEAKER_08Uh yeah. The council person beforehand represented the noble district, so she must represent the nobility here. Um, and the council person beforehand was named Lamyra Dantal.
SPEAKER_05Ah, I I noticed uh uh it's nice to see you all. Um there's a new face in the room. What happened to uh Lamyra? A gold question, Miss Dantal.
SPEAKER_08The woman in the burnt orange steps forward and goes, Hi, my name is Senna Hercadius. I um have taken over her seat on account of she has fallen to the plague.
SPEAKER_05Um uh it's it's so nice to meet you. May I kiss your hand?
SPEAKER_08Yes, wonderful, please. Thank you. General Trioctus comes up to you and like slaps your shoulder. He would like sometimes give talks at the Griffin Scouts. Sure. Like you you know him a little better than some of the other council members. He puts his hand on your back and he goes, Good to see you, boy.
SPEAKER_05Good to see you, General.
SPEAKER_08Glad you're back.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I've been on quite an adventure. I saved a town from pirates. Really? Well, I helped save a town from pirates. Lucy did most of the work.
SPEAKER_08That's good. I remember my days of adventuring.
SPEAKER_05I forgot that you were an adventurer. Oh, you have to tell me more stories.
SPEAKER_08Of course, of course. Well, hey, good to see you, man.
SPEAKER_06Your mom goes, Okay, so uh uh Janice, I guess if you're here, do you want to give us? I know that you you went out to try to find a cure. Did you have any luck?
SPEAKER_05Um yes, sort of. I have good news and I have bad news.
SPEAKER_08Ebenezer Bones goes, good news and bad news. I'd like to hear both. New favorite MPC, new favorite MPC. His eyes don't really open.
SPEAKER_05Let's uh well let's start with the good news. Um uh thanks to uh Lucy's help, um, we were able to find the Temple of Farrica in the swamp outside her town.
SPEAKER_09Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, and I um good. Have technically become uh the the oracle of Farrica.
SPEAKER_08The council members tentatively clap. Your mom puts the back of her hand on your forehead and goes, Oh, you are feeling a little warm. Are you are you sick? Oh, no, I feel great.
SPEAKER_10Don't you have um, not to air your business out, but don't you have a um a perpetual case of leprosy?
SPEAKER_05What? No, no, no. Sorry, mom. They're telling fibs.
SPEAKER_10Um not intentionally, sorry, ma'am. But we saw it. But I did see you, yeah, we did see it.
SPEAKER_03It was really gross, but he was a brave boy.
SPEAKER_10He kind of like had a seizure when he first got contacted by Farrica and like a bunch of like stuff, like plaguey like spots came on, and then they went away, and then they went away.
SPEAKER_09But the only thing that was worse than what plaguey spots, sorry, leprosy spots. The only thing that I saw on your son's skin that was worse than that was this town.
SPEAKER_05Okay, let me explain, mom. Uh, so Farrica has made it very clear that she is both the goddess of medicine and disease. Um, and so being her oracle, occasionally I'll break out in leprosy, but then that'll resolve and I'll look amazing and I'll be super healthy. And I mostly stay super healthy.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like I look like my skin's never looked better.
SPEAKER_06You do look healthy if a little goth.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, thank you. And so the bad news is Farrica uh doesn't seem to know what this plague is, and she's the goddess of affliction, and that seems bad.
SPEAKER_08General Trioctus goes, that fits with what we know from the plague bringer. He Plague Bringer?
SPEAKER_10That is birth name?
SPEAKER_08He says We've recently, to catch you up to speed a little bit, been spotting a figure followed by the plague, who we believe is responsible for spreading it to some of the more vulnerable areas of town.
SPEAKER_09Oh, I know what that is. When you have chicken pox, they make you do that.
SPEAKER_08Sort of.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so that's other people don't get it.
SPEAKER_08It it seems to me that his pursuit is to spread it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they usually have you do that to their kids in town.
SPEAKER_03I think it's different, Lucy.
SPEAKER_09Oh, you do?
SPEAKER_03This time it's different, but normally you'd be right.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_08The the woman with the armor on goes, uh, we believe him to be a some sort of priest of Erebos, but we haven't been able to put a pin on him. We haven't been able to trap him, interrogate him, or do anything of the like. And with the Temple of Erebos gone down, there's not a way that we can find out more. What happened to the temple? It was uh taken by the plague, and all of our parties that have gone to investigate it have not come back.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_10Suspicious. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That is suspicious. Okay. Well, the good news is, is Farica does want to help us, and she's gonna help me heal people as long as I make a few people sick and maybe kill some people along the way.
SPEAKER_06Sorry, what was that? Don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_05Farika's gonna help me heal people.
SPEAKER_06And that last part.
SPEAKER_05The part about with the sickness and spreading and spreading you have to spread a spreading some uh illness and death, maybe. I know.
SPEAKER_09He's pretty good at it.
SPEAKER_05No, just like eleven. No, just like ten. No, was it eleven now? I don't know. Look at my neck. I think it might be 12.
SPEAKER_10Oh my god. Oh, oh, Annie got a tattoo. Janice got a tattoo. No, oh my god!
SPEAKER_07No, that's okay. Hey, daddy's okay. I have my tattoo.
SPEAKER_03Where is it?
SPEAKER_08It's on my wrist. Would you like to see?
SPEAKER_03I would love to see your wrist. I would love to see your wrist. Kiss your wrist.
SPEAKER_08It's a oh, you little flirt. Um it's a a C and a J and like an infinity symbol for Cersei and Janice.
SPEAKER_05I know. Uh yeah, I know, Mom. Uh, my tattoo kind of grows though. Um, it's it's it's a mark of the goddess.
SPEAKER_09Oh, oh, but show her your stars.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, if you look real close, you can see the stars.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_05I got stars too. Oh my god!
SPEAKER_03I got and em.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_05We all got them.
SPEAKER_10I like to keep my stars private.
SPEAKER_05They're on your hands. I brought in I brought a small army of touch by the gods.
SPEAKER_00You are touched by the gods.
SPEAKER_05Exactly, bones.
SPEAKER_10Allegedly. Some of us more than others. Yeah, Lucy came out of the gods.
SPEAKER_06That's wonderful. That's very good news.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and and we're gonna do everything that we can to help the uh Barrica is complicated, I learned. Um, but she does seem willing to help us. And even more than that, um, I made friends along the way. Um, and I don't think I could have done it without them. And I don't think I can do it without them.
SPEAKER_10Oh, that's really Janice. Um, Miss Councilwoman Apollon, how have you how have people been protecting themselves from the plague when they do have to go into the more plague areas?
SPEAKER_03Good question. Janice was trying questions.
SPEAKER_10Janice had a scary mask. Do we all need a scary mask so we don't get sick?
SPEAKER_06Uh, well, some people have been wearing just regular masks, regular sort of face masks of some sort with of cloth to uh uh try not to breathe in the spores, but you know, the spores have a mind of their own.
SPEAKER_08They'll they'll try to go through your skin even. Um there's not a ton you can do. Trioctus says, I've instructed my plague guard to wear masks that I've specifically outfitted with pockets containing uh boiling herbs to try to keep out some of the bad air, but it's it's more psychosomatic.
SPEAKER_09It's it's it doesn't it's psychosomatic. Maybe we can trick them. If we trick the spores into thinking that that we're we're other things, then they won't know that it's us actually walking behind.
SPEAKER_10That's actually a good idea, Lucy. I mean, if it's a fungus and it's alive, it's attracted to some things more than others.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so maybe we just create like uh like statues or like a scarecrow kind of things of us, and then we put those out in front of us, and we can connect them by sticks to us, and then the spores will think that's us, and then we'll walk behind and it would be okay. I like it! You lost me a little bit, but um No, I'm I'm fully bought in.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Uh so mom, I was thinking um if you've learned anything or can help us with anything, I think our next stop is. Well, now I still need to check in with Cersei. Um, so if you don't mind um giving me her address so I can go check up on her and work. Uh Mr. Bones, how's she doing? Is do you work with Cersei at all?
SPEAKER_07She's good. I uh I'm not directly over her of any kind, but uh I do see her from time to time. We are neighbors. Um I guess I'm happy to take you right to her house.
SPEAKER_05Great. Yeah, so we'll go there, and then um we do have to go. There's a warehouse in the mercantile district near Pizza Point. Exactly. And we know where it is.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's my pizza point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and Farrica kind of sent me a godly vision being like, go where it began and reference that area. Did do you know anything about that place? Or anything you might give us to help us get there safely?
SPEAKER_06Well, uh, Trioctus, uh, will you and alert your men that they might be entering the infected district?
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_06I I believe that's you know, I'd love to give you more, but that's all we can do. Uh uh can you spare any men to go with them?
SPEAKER_08I'm sorry, no, we're we're we're all tapped out. It would just slow us down. Plague bringer.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we kinda like just kind of like a foursome, like a little posse.
SPEAKER_06Okay, how about this? Uh well during the council meeting for today, uh uh Senna, will you can we tomorrow?
SPEAKER_08I know that your your big party is tomorrow, but would you mind spending a few minutes of it discuss we could discuss the uh uh uh aid package from Ariaks and just make the final decision? Um I believe we're all gonna say yes. We need we need any all the help we can get. Oh Senna, are you from Ariaks? No, I'm I've lived here my whole life. Thank you very much.
SPEAKER_09You're welcome.
SPEAKER_03I guess you're welcome.
SPEAKER_08Thank you.
SPEAKER_03Has it always been this junky?
SPEAKER_08It's not it's not junky. Now it is. No, you're you're paying attention to the worst parts of it. It is just as beautiful as it ever was before the plague. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_10Well, I mean, like maybe maybe 30% of it is from where I'm standing. Like the rich parts look a little bit less plague-ridden than others.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, like I I think I was seeing all of it, and I think all of it looks pretty terrible. Like, all bad.
SPEAKER_08But that's a matter of your opinion.
SPEAKER_09No.
SPEAKER_08And she's from Siren's Perch.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I've seen some shit. I've seen bad.
SPEAKER_08General triox of well, we'll I mean, I'm I'm sure we've all got things that we would appreciate the help of untied down heroes on. Currently we've got everyone that we could attending to everything that we can, but there are there's help we could certainly use. Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I'm not tied down to anything.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, if you need tied down heroes, Lucy, my girl over here, she can tie knots like no one's business.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, no, they specifically don't want tied down heroes.
SPEAKER_03So I'm sorry, Lucy, you might want to sit there. Oh no, I'm gonna hold the knots.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I I I will not. I I won't. No, don't not. No, I won't not. I I will not not.
SPEAKER_08The council members start to filter from the room as they pass you. They, you know, shake your hands, Janice, and shake all of your hands. Senna, as she passes, goes, Now I will say that you do all have an invitation tomorrow night to my gala. Uh the theme is if the plague never happened, and we're just sort of going to pretend like the plague never happened, we're going to drink, we are going to smoke a little reefer, uh, and we're going to have a good time.
SPEAKER_10Is there a dress code?
SPEAKER_08Yes, if you're if you come in anything other than a suit and tails and a fancy dress or however you'd like to express it has to be fancy or you're gonna get kicked out.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we can dress up. I mean, the last party we went to there was a goddess, so we were guests of honor. So we were the guest of honor for the king. Yeah, we were the guests of honor. Yeah.
SPEAKER_10We were the guests of honor.
SPEAKER_05We sort of saved Ariadne.
SPEAKER_10Oh my god, where's Ariette? Oh my god, what I would love to hear about that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then it and and that was before it went to shit.
SPEAKER_10You should have seen Janice, ma'am. He like flew 60 feet into the air and like dive-bombed this asshole who was trying to steal this kid. Um, it was really nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, my mom died. She was Queen Juliana at school. What?
SPEAKER_00Like a silence fault.
SPEAKER_08The people leaving the people leaving the room all stop and turn back to look at you.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05It's whatever. It's okay. There's a lot of family stuff going on in our in our little in our little group here. Lucy's mom's a guy.
SPEAKER_09No, I don't have my little bit.
SPEAKER_08They all they all they all like. Like watching a tennis match, they all turn and look at Lucy in unison.
SPEAKER_10Uh just kidding.
SPEAKER_08Wouldn't that be crazy?
SPEAKER_09That would be so crazy. That would be so. That would be crazy. Like sometimes I'm so wild that that's what they say. Oh, it'd be like, it's that, but it's not that crazy.
SPEAKER_08Lucy make a deception check. Um, GCD 12, yeah, with advantage.
SPEAKER_0919, let's go.
SPEAKER_08Okay.
SPEAKER_03Um always doing beds.
SPEAKER_09The funny crew. We're the funny heroes.
SPEAKER_08We're the funny heroes. Dog Ratley goes, No, that wasn't that funny to me.
SPEAKER_09It's an inside joke, you'd have to know that. We're the haha heroes.
SPEAKER_03Go back to the haha heroes. Go back to the mercantile district, uh, you buddy.
SPEAKER_06It's infected, so I'm staying in the noble district. Oh, that must be nice.
SPEAKER_10I'm gonna stop talking to these people. I don't know them.
SPEAKER_08Uh uh, they they all filter out.
SPEAKER_06Ebenezer Bones goes, Would you like me to wait in the living room in case you need an escort uh to your sister's home?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we'd be happy to walk you home, Mr. Bones.
SPEAKER_06Okay, great. I'll wait here. Uh Midas, could I have a seltzer?
SPEAKER_09Oh. Oh, anything for you, elbows, kneezer bones? That's good, that's good, I like that.
SPEAKER_06Uh so so as High Sun Georgiana leaves, she uh goes, Alright, now, uh, if y'all are really willing to help out with some stuff, I know it's a kind of scary image that we painted of it, but I'd really like to know what's going on with my colleagues at the Temple of Erebos.
SPEAKER_05I was gonna ask you about that, actually. It sounds like everyone who's gone there has died, but we've never gone there.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. The last time we went to a temple where everyone who went there died, that's where Janus met Farrica.
SPEAKER_05So that's true.
SPEAKER_08So maybe you'll meet Erebos.
SPEAKER_05That would be uncomfortable. Uncomfortable. We die sometimes. I never like die, die, die.
SPEAKER_09I've never died. I've never died either.
SPEAKER_08Well, you know, if if y'all if y'all go check it out, um, you know, just let me know if there's anything you need, but uh it would be a great, great help because we lost a lot of good priests that we sent over to investigate that place.
SPEAKER_05Well, we'll check it out. I think I know where it is.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's just at the the end of the end of the temple district.
SPEAKER_05Great. Is it by the point?
SPEAKER_08Uh no, other end, other end.
SPEAKER_05Okay, great. So you didn't know where the fuck it was.
SPEAKER_08No, I know. I was just clarifying.
SPEAKER_05No, see, that's why I was confused. I was like, I don't remember. I don't remember it being by the way.
SPEAKER_08It's the largest temple, so it's too big to be by the point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09There's yeah, there's the temple majora and the temple menorah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I just wanted to make sure that I was going to the right temple. Right. The temple district's a big district. But yeah, we did see. I hope they're fine.
SPEAKER_08Uh me too. Cool. Me too. Well, it's good to good to see you, Janice, as always.
SPEAKER_05Great seeing you, high son.
SPEAKER_08Um, and then the last to leave is General Trioctus, who puts his hand on your shoulder, Janice, and squeezes it really tight and goes, There's a good man. There he is.
SPEAKER_05I got a good grip. This is where I learned it. Right here. Uh?
SPEAKER_08Uh Vulcan nerf pinch. That's not what I'm doing. But it's good to know. Yeah. Good to have you back.
SPEAKER_05I got a couple people with that nerf pinch. Really? Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_08Good. Serve me well too. Serve me well too. But um, if you all are so inclined, the Plague Bringer has been spotted generally around the Arconery. We've been sending team after team after him, but with no luck. So if you see him, please uh, you know, he's very dangerous.
SPEAKER_05I'll punch him in the face. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Or get some guards to help. You know, you don't have to do it by yourself. You're a good you're a good kid. Nice to meet you all.
SPEAKER_10Nice to meet you.
SPEAKER_05Good seeing you, General.
SPEAKER_03That guy reminds me of my dad, but he's smiling way too much.
SPEAKER_05That's he's just smiling a normal amount, Rex. Oh no. That's way too much smiling.
SPEAKER_03For my dad? That's not your dad, Rex. No, but he's like my dad, but if he smiles way too much.
SPEAKER_10Um, Janice, before we leave, can I um I lost my dishorn. Can I borrow a sending stone and just uh message Nikki and let her know um that she can't reach me on there?
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, there's one on the wall in the kitchen.
SPEAKER_10Okay, great. Ring ring ring.
SPEAKER_05It's corded.
SPEAKER_10Hey Patch. Hi, Nikki. Um, I everything's good. We're um in Plutopolis. Oh good. Yeah. I just wanted to call um and give you a heads up that I I lost my freaking dishorn.
SPEAKER_06Oh no. Yeah. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_10I must have dropped it in the labyrinth or something, I guess.
SPEAKER_06Okay, well then can I find you here? Is the sending zone a good place to find out?
SPEAKER_10Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, you can. Right. Um, yeah, or um you can, you know, you I think Janice has like a bag of rocks that um can message us. Yeah, that's it. Everything's great. Love you, bye.
SPEAKER_08Bye. As as these people start to leave, and your mom and dad uh give you a big hug and give you guys water from the c from the fridge. Yeah. The decanter of endless water in the fridge.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we're just gonna leave. Well, there's a well and it's magical. And we'll leave our stuff here. And if you can get the den, we'll probably sleep here tonight if you can get the den ready. I'm sorry to ask you to do stuff like just pull out the trundle.
SPEAKER_06Janice, I um I'm really concerned about this Farrica thing.
SPEAKER_05Well, she's a complicated goddess, but she wants to help, I think.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_05Um and I feel great about it.
SPEAKER_08I mean, as long as you feel good, you know, we're we're here to support you, but uh No, we're concerned too. Part but yeah, part is part of the support is you know, if you bit off something major trying to, you know, if you need to anything we can do to get you out of it.
SPEAKER_05That's so fun. It's like it's like that time Histos tried to eat that whole badger. That's too big for a snake aside.
SPEAKER_03You've raised a really good guy.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, he's insane in a cool way.
SPEAKER_08Thank you, thank you.
SPEAKER_07And he's made some really good friends. I love you guys. You guys are so cool. Oh, I do have great friends.
SPEAKER_05And they're gonna help me. And yes, I know Farrica sounds scary. She's a giant snake lady with a pyramid hat, but you know, she's she does seem like she wants to help.
SPEAKER_08So just because I have to you know, in times like this, strange bedfellas, you know.
SPEAKER_05That's true.
SPEAKER_09I don't understand families.
SPEAKER_05Do you need a hug?
SPEAKER_09Uh sorry.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Oh, you should get a hug. My mom's that gives that bast hugs. You can get a mom.
SPEAKER_09No, I don't want to hug. No, I don't.
SPEAKER_03I'll take one from you.
SPEAKER_08All right. She side hugs both of you. No, she doesn't. She she just gives you a regular hug.
SPEAKER_09Patch isn't weird about it.
SPEAKER_03No, and neither is Rex.
SPEAKER_08Okay, I want to clarify you're not being weird about it. Patch isn't being weird about it.
SPEAKER_02Rex is looking for maternal affection. Motherly affection. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09She she gives you a uh big is it like a moment for him?
SPEAKER_05Oh, he's just trying to get it where he can.
SPEAKER_03Just trying to get just trying to get his mom hugs where there's mom. Any sport in a storm, yeah. I'm gonna hug your mom too, Patch.
SPEAKER_10You can hug her, she's like that.
SPEAKER_03I think I bet she gives really great hugs. Are you afraid of moms, Lucy?
SPEAKER_10No, no, no.
SPEAKER_03Moms are great.
SPEAKER_10Did you and Facilia ever hug? You hugged when you left. Yeah. That's right. Did you hug growing up? No. Okay. That's okay. I don't like hugs either that much.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'll we'll respect your boundaries, but no, I like it when you guys hug me.
SPEAKER_09Janice, you give fantastic hugs. And Rex, when you protect me, it's like a big hug. And then you also give good hugs. Thank you. And Patch, we're like closer to the same size, so it like it works better. Yeah. I j it's I I'm not afraid. Okay.
SPEAKER_05As you can see, Mom, we have a very good support system, so we can take on anything. We're good. Is there anything you want me to tell Cersei or take to her when I go see her?
SPEAKER_08Oh, Midas grabs uh a little paper sack and hands it to you and goes, inside, I've carved a raven. I think she would like it because she used to work at the rookery.
SPEAKER_04Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05Isn't that fun? She's gonna love this. Oh my gosh. Dad, I met this guy. He's a cyclops. Oh he he paints minis, and I would love to see what he does with this.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah. That would be he would oh, he would do something really.
SPEAKER_05I wish, but this is so cute. Oh, she's gonna love this.
SPEAKER_10Um excuse me, Appallons. Uh uh, Cersei's been around, right? Like you've seen her recently.
SPEAKER_08Um, yeah. No, we saw we saw her last week a little bit.
SPEAKER_10Like she's not dead?
SPEAKER_08Well, no, I mean she sends she sends us messages on the code. Oh, she sends us messages on the standing stone, so you don't have to worry about her being dead. Nope.
SPEAKER_09Shey, but you've never actually seen her. You don't know what sort of status she's in. They saw her? So she could have died since a week ago. Let's go.
SPEAKER_05Um we're going to see her now. Okay, let me know when you see her. Yeah, we'll let you know. Let me know that she's safe when you see her. I'll call you. I'll call you on the I'll call you on the cord list.
SPEAKER_09We'll throw this raven back at you.
unknownOkay. Janice.
SPEAKER_05Just look for the channel. Wishing Lucy out the front door. Everything's fine. Lucy, stop talking. We're going.
SPEAKER_10Janice, I feel like you're lying to them. Thank you. Yeah. Hey, Janice. Lying to them about what? You lied. About You lied to your family. Yeah, I didn't. You said that you were cool with everything. You specifically told us you're not.
SPEAKER_05I said things are complicated, and they are.
SPEAKER_10And you know that everything isn't great here.
SPEAKER_05I don't know what you're talking about there.
SPEAKER_10Look around. We're here to fix it, Jason. Okay, you're right. Yeah, let's go.
SPEAKER_05Hey, I and I just want you guys to know. Um, uh, it's okay to lie to yourself.
SPEAKER_10Oh. Oh. Oh.
unknownShh.
SPEAKER_05Oh. Okay. Yes, I would just think, hey, maybe I'll just lie to myself.
SPEAKER_09No, and that has literally never occurred to me. Huh.
SPEAKER_03But I normally just disassociate and just like don't think about it. That's kind of similar. Okay. Well, let me know if you want to talk. Let us know if you want to talk about it, if you come out of this. I'll let you know. Alright.
SPEAKER_09I normally just tell Shelby, but that's fine.
SPEAKER_03Who? Who?
SPEAKER_10Shelby, her imaginary friend who lives in her pocket, who apparently has been here the whole time, even though she never introduced us.
SPEAKER_03What? You never introduce us to Shelby?
SPEAKER_09No.
SPEAKER_03Can I meet her?
SPEAKER_09No. You don't just ask to meet someone's best friend. I think you do. Whoa.
SPEAKER_05What about us? What about Amos?
SPEAKER_09Amos wrote a really sad song about how we're not best friends anymore. Yeah, Payne is his best friend. And so since then, Shelby and I Shelby's moved to number one. Oh. So Shelby was living in your pocket and she was only your number two best friend. No. At first she was number only friend. Then when I met Amos, we became best friends. And Shelby and I didn't talk for like a week. A week. Okay. Where do we rank? Non-denomination. You rank non-denominationally. Okay. Let's go, Mr. Blue. I'm not religious, so that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you you you hear like huffing behind you to catch up. You forgot me.
SPEAKER_05Oh, good easier. Sorry, we were rushing ahead. We got we got stu we were we got to talking.
SPEAKER_08Hey, he he he kind of like uh leans towards you, Lucy, and goes, I was I was afraid of my mom too.
SPEAKER_09You were?
SPEAKER_08Yep.
SPEAKER_09Who's who's your mom?
SPEAKER_08Oh she um she was just a very she was very stern.
SPEAKER_09Was she a goddess?
SPEAKER_08Uh no.
SPEAKER_09Oh, then you couldn't understand.
SPEAKER_08I mean oh sh but she was, you know, she fuck off. She had a business. She was powerful.
SPEAKER_09She had a business? Yeah. So you understand.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I think all women are goddesses. I don't.
SPEAKER_00I would I would agree.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Mr. Bow. Evan Ezer, what business did your mom do?
SPEAKER_08Uh she she used to run a uh uh well, it was more of a racket. It was more of a racket. It was a protection racket.
SPEAKER_09Oh. What's a racket?
SPEAKER_08Uh it's where you go to neighborhoods and you you say, I'll protect you if you give me a fee.
SPEAKER_10I think that's called or organized crime. Oh yeah, no, she was an organized criminal.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_07I didn't want to say she was an organized criminal. She was very organized. She kept file folders in the living room.
SPEAKER_10Listen, respect the girl's hustle.
SPEAKER_03I and we understand why you'd be afraid of her. You guys break your knees.
SPEAKER_08Make your way towards the barge uh leading into the arconery. It's a couple minutes wait, uh, but the barges go at a regular cycle. They're uh uh magically automated, but they still have an attendant on every barge just to make sure that, you know, if there's a beast attack, you know, if there's something nowadays, if if any plague descends on the barge, someone to like provide healing, support, that kind of thing.
SPEAKER_09Stand clear of the closing gangway.
SPEAKER_08You guys get on the barge. Bing bang! Bing up front, uh, a hooded figure kind of uh uh just sitting on a chair for the barge. Not barge guard, but like barge captain. Yeah. Just sort of staring ahead and and looking at his nails. Ebenezer goes, I used to read a lot on the barge, but that was before my vision got a little stinky.
SPEAKER_10It was probably hard for you because you, you know, all those big words, you probably need the dictionary in one hand.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I had the dictionary in one hand, because that's how you gotta do it for some books. Yeah. That's what that's just what you have to do when they use words that are very complicated.
SPEAKER_09No, I get it. There are some books that you that are more for reading, and there are some books that are more to be seen by other people that you're reading.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I get it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. The study of magic.
SPEAKER_10Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_05The it reads basically just reads.
SPEAKER_10Uh-huh. What is your point? What is your point?
SPEAKER_05Uh, just, you know, you gotta show your respects to your elders, especially your elder style.
SPEAKER_09We were having a conversation. That noise, I feel respected by all of you.
SPEAKER_10Thank you, sir. I could totally take him.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you could.
SPEAKER_10Tanis is such a goody two shoes, right, Mr. Bones?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, uh, well, I wouldn't, I wouldn't put cast expersions on the boy, but he is a little bit of a nerd.
SPEAKER_03Mr. Bones, do you you know magic?
SPEAKER_09Uh yeah. Oh. Okay, what number am I thinking of?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what number is Lucy thinking of?
SPEAKER_08Uh, make a deception check. He's gonna make an inside check. What'd you get on your deception check? A three. He got a one.
SPEAKER_07Uh uh 70 eleven.
SPEAKER_09No, that's that was it!
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_09Yes! 70 eleven! No! No, I wasn't even thinking of a number.
SPEAKER_08What were you thinking of?
SPEAKER_09Uh wouldn't it be cool if you knew?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_09And then I get just yeah.
SPEAKER_08And it would. It would. As you've been going down this path, you've seen Plutopolis is built on a number of rivers that come together in the center, which is where the chromatic palace is. So the barges that take you from district to district take you kind of right by the chromatic palace. They're skirting like a little wider around it now that it's got the plague descended on it. But in coming down this river, you pass directly by the temple district in the noble district, and then you see the other districts, including the warehouse that you're going to eventually.
SPEAKER_03Well, let's just hop up here. Why don't we just hop up here to cra cross this up there list?
SPEAKER_09Can I ask a question? Uh so the the spore cloud, is that over where we are now?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_09So are we in the spores?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_09So they're already like, what is that experience like? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. So as you head into the town, the air grows thicker. Around you, there's spores. There's little bits and pieces here and there. So gross. But in the sky, there are it almost looks like a black dragon. Um, spore clouds that are so thick that are swirling and seem to almost be animated with some form of life.
SPEAKER_09Like a flock of birds.
SPEAKER_08Like a flock of birds. They circle over infected houses. You even see looking off the barge into the merchant district as you pass, you see one going down the street and like going into a window and out of another window, just like looking for people to infect.
SPEAKER_09It's like it's alive.
SPEAKER_02The smoke monster from Lost.
SPEAKER_09Or the the Angel of Death from the Bible. Or the movie The Ten Commandments.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. You just you just gotta watch out for it. You don't wanna have you don't wanna you don't wanna have a spore attack.
SPEAKER_03I mean, is there none of us want to have that?
SPEAKER_05We're all concerned about that.
SPEAKER_10This is disgusting. I can see it. I'm really worried. What happens if we breathe that in? Like, is there any immediate recourse or are we fucked? I'm kind of getting I'm getting a little I'm getting a little hypochondriactic.
SPEAKER_05So if you get I don't know, I don't want to say attacked by the spores, that might be the best way to describe it. If a sp if you are descended upon by spores in an aggressive manner in which they are like attacking you, you kind of have a seizure. It looks like a seizure. You kind of get overwhelmed with spores and they get in ya. Um and you seize, it's kind of a terrible thing to witness. Um your skin turns gray. Um, and then you wake up um sometime later having no memory of being infected.
SPEAKER_10Isn't that kind of what happened to you?
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_10Did you not have a seizure and then turn gray?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that was Farrica, though. Okay.
SPEAKER_09So we just need to be nice to the Sporters so they don't attack us.
SPEAKER_05Well then you stay gray.
SPEAKER_09Oh.
SPEAKER_05You stay gray, you're kind of marked at that point. And then what happens? Huh? And then do you die? Um yes. That's the funny that's the funny thing.
SPEAKER_09Janice, are you lying to us? Why are you why have you you you know all this and you haven't told us?
SPEAKER_05Well, why are we here?
SPEAKER_09I was living- How you're literally bringing us here under false pretenses. We're all gonna die!
SPEAKER_01We're not all gonna die.
SPEAKER_09Janice, you can't even what the heck and then put a mask on.
SPEAKER_10Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_01All of these people, look, look at all these people. Look, Mr. Bones is fine. Look at Mr. Bones.
SPEAKER_10I'm gonna slap Janice. Tell him. Yeah, I slap him before I reach your name.
SPEAKER_01Tell him, Mr. Bones, tell him it's fine.
SPEAKER_00Uh, it's pretty bad here. I don't know, man.
SPEAKER_10Janice! Janice, what did you ask us here to help you with? You said we were friends!
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we are friends. I'm here to we're here to help get rid of this plague.
SPEAKER_10So why are we getting rid of it if it's fine?
SPEAKER_05Okay, so it's not fine. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so great.
SPEAKER_05So maybe it's super bad. Maybe when you get infected, you go on living your life relatively normally for a time, and then some horrible, terrible thing happens to you. Or if you go on for long enough, you just disappear without a trace. I don't know. Maybe that's what the disease is. You're saying maybe a lot, but you've got to be a bit. Well, sometimes they're fine, sometimes they disappear, and sometimes some horrible, weird, like one in a million chance accident befalls them.
SPEAKER_08So it's not even a- Don't forget, sometimes they turn into trees or statues.
SPEAKER_05And sometimes they turn into trees or statues.
SPEAKER_06I saw a guy last week who started aging rapidly to the point where over the course of several days, uh, he withered and died.
SPEAKER_10Wait a second, Janus. I'm not a medical expert, but I do know something about magic. That doesn't sound like a normal disease. It sounds like some something arc arc arcana related.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's why the clerics have been calling it magianosis. Uh, they think it's some sort of like uh uh you know, almost like a wild magic surge, but really evil and bad.
SPEAKER_10Well then maybe that's why Ferrica doesn't have anything to do with it. So what can a cure do to a magic plague?
SPEAKER_03They also call it ass plague, as in why are our asses in this city right now?
SPEAKER_09So what's the point? What's the plan? We're just gonna walk in and hope that doesn't happen to us?
SPEAKER_01No, well, the we the the the source is here. The problem is here. We have to be here to solve it. So what are we gonna do?
SPEAKER_05But you left to solve it. Yeah, I did. I went to find a a source of magic that could help combat this source of magic, and I got Farrakhan, I brought her back. And all of you.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, but we're all gonna die. Or turn into a tree.
SPEAKER_03That's actually like the least bad one.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I would be a tree. Give me the tree.
SPEAKER_08The other day I saw a guy who every day he got a new previous wound he had in life. So he like if he he stubbed his toe, you know, ten years ago and he got these his toe stubbed one day. Oh, that's true. And then he got uh he had an old war wound that reopened the next day, and he just piece by piece until he bled out.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Having two circumcisions would be rough.
SPEAKER_09I can't get that. Do you know how many times in my life I've been hurt? That's true. My body will fall apart if that happens to me, Janice. That's true.
SPEAKER_05You know, none of you. She's the freaking daughter of fame.
SPEAKER_09We didn't know because you didn't tell us.
SPEAKER_05You all knew that my town had a plague. I'm trying to cure the plague, and you were coming to a town that was ridden with a plague. It's not my fault that none of you ever asked what the plague was.
SPEAKER_10You're right, Janice. You know what? You're right.
SPEAKER_05You're right. You're right.
SPEAKER_10I'm sorry that we are risking our lives to come here and help you, and all you can do is say, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine.
SPEAKER_09There's literally no way to protect yourself from this evil, actually sentient pr plague.
SPEAKER_05Well, I will say this is that um magic people do seem to be a little more resistant to it.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay, they're more fun.
SPEAKER_10You can do magic.
SPEAKER_08Don't get it drunk. They can still get it, but it's it's it's harder for them. They're more resistant. They are resistant, they are very resistant, and in fact, the cases are significantly fewer per capita.
SPEAKER_03Okay. What if you've done magic once?
SPEAKER_08Were you good at it?
SPEAKER_03I've tried. I right now I'm I'm I'm bad about it.
SPEAKER_08I have to imagine that whatever gave you these markings imbued you with enough magic that you probably wouldn't be as susceptible as the lay person, which isn't to say that you can't get it, it seems like you probably could get it, but Okay.
SPEAKER_10Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_03Because I could do like burning blades sometimes till it's dead.
SPEAKER_10I'm sorry, Janice. It just really freaks me out when you put on that scary plague mask and then didn't offer us one.
SPEAKER_05I'm really sorry. No, it's not a good idea. Again, it doesn't like the general said, it doesn't really do anything.
SPEAKER_09It's just kind of You gotta stop saying that, Janice. You have to stop saying that.
SPEAKER_05Well, that's why we're here. We're just gonna figure it out, we're gonna solve it, and we're gonna get out.
SPEAKER_09How are we almost to your sister's place?
SPEAKER_03Hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_10Is this why you know what?
SPEAKER_03You know what? I'm with Janice. We gotta we have to do this.
SPEAKER_09Okay, what I'm with you too.
SPEAKER_03We have to I have to be a hero, you told me. And so I'm gonna be I I'm here. I'm doing it.
SPEAKER_09Janice, I'm here too, but you have to be honest.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_09You cannot say things are fine if they're not fine. I can't walk into this spore-ridden town with you if you're gonna say everything is okay when it's not, and we don't know. I was about to take some really deep breath.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Okay. This might come to a surprise to some of you, but this disease looks so bad. It's so much worse than I was expecting. It's really good. It's really not good. It is so bad. It's not surprising. It's so bad.
SPEAKER_10It's bad.
SPEAKER_05Histos hasn't come out of my pocket for this whole day.
SPEAKER_10It's scary.
SPEAKER_05It's scary.
SPEAKER_03I wish I could be in a pocket like histos or Shelby.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah. Okay. Yeah, Janice, thanks.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so it's super bad. Yeah. It's super bad. Yeah. Super bad. It's super plaggy.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and now it's super scary because it's your super home, but we're gonna super work on it together.
SPEAKER_10And now we can super do something about it because we're super on the same page. Yeah, super honest.
SPEAKER_05And we're gonna be super heroes. And we're gonna be heroes. You hear you hear that, Mr. Bones? I'm here to save my town. I'll save you, Mr. Bones.
SPEAKER_10Thank you. He's been waiting to go back inside his house.
SPEAKER_08Um, you guys have gotten off the barge in the in the uh uh uh uh arcountery. He goes, Thank you uh so much. I'm glad you all worked that out because it was I was getting secondhand sort of when you're f when you're next to friends who are fighting. It's just weird because you don't you don't know, like I know Janice, but I don't know you guys, you know, and so I don't know if I should intercede be an intermediary. I don't know, but uh if you guys would want something, um he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a gemstone. He goes, I've been tinkering with this, I've got a little bit of uh soterics essence in this. And uh if you could, I believe this could perhaps capture um one of those miasmic plagues up above, those uh uh great beasts of spores, those flocks. If you could capture one, you know, that could be probably helpful to solving it.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_08Just to give you a little extra thing if you want it. You don't have to take it.
SPEAKER_10Easy, just suck some plague into the gem. We got that. You suck a plague into a gem.
SPEAKER_08You don't have to you don't have to take it if you don't want it.
SPEAKER_05Try if you don't want it. Who's running the sort of investigation on the plague nowadays? Is it you, Mr. Bones?
SPEAKER_06Uh well, uh i i i it was me for a time, but then um it sort of transitioned.
SPEAKER_08It's gone back and forth, uh, but ever since Traactus established the plague guard, he's kind of taking the taking the point on trying to find a way to solve it. We we really do think it's this plague bringer guy. We think that he's been spreading it.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I think it's safe to assume that the god of death and his death priest are probably Well no, it doesn't. What do you mean?
SPEAKER_09It's well it's definitely not safe, but I think it's a good idea.
SPEAKER_05Well it's weird because it doesn't necessarily kill you.
SPEAKER_10Sometimes you get turned into a tree, which is why this kind of sounds like a Phoenix plague. We've met Phoenix. We've met Phoenix.
SPEAKER_03Phoenix is a guy, man.
SPEAKER_10No, but Phoenix wasn't like bad. I'm just saying, it doesn't seem like this plague is like Janice said, it's not causing death, so it's kind of weird that the death priests are around. Maybe it's more complicated.
SPEAKER_03And Phoenax was cool, like he just like stole our secrets. He did nothing with them.
SPEAKER_05Oh, no.
SPEAKER_08It's one of those things where my house is right there and I feel like I have to say goodbye. Oh, Mr. Bones, you're not gonna come up with it. Yeah, it's that house.
SPEAKER_09Wait, like, Rex, uh, scramble the letters in Ebenezer Bones and see what you come up with. Uh Knobs. Boner.
SPEAKER_08Oh yeah, man. Zebonaz. Zebonaz, I like that. Well, I'm going home. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go uh read some Matlock and go to sleep.
SPEAKER_05All right, catch you later, Mr. Bones.
SPEAKER_09Thank you.
SPEAKER_08Thank you.
SPEAKER_12So Ebenezer Bones anagrams into B boner sneeze. Got you. We know what's happening now.
SPEAKER_08We know what this was. You figured it out. As you head over to uh uh he he pointed you towards the second floor of uh a building with like an external staircase that leads you up to the second floor, like a duplex situation with a staircase on the outside. The doorway has a uh uh a mat in front of it that says go away.
SPEAKER_03My cousin has that. That sounds like Matt Matt, I know.
SPEAKER_05Knack knack!
SPEAKER_10Shout out to Alicia Ham.
SPEAKER_05Cersei, it's your big brother.
SPEAKER_08You hear a stirring from inside.
SPEAKER_05Sounds like she's a bad windows.
SPEAKER_10We're just standing quietly.
SPEAKER_05I have friends. Knack knack.
SPEAKER_10Go away.
SPEAKER_05Excuse me? Go a- go away, Janice! Is that how you talk to your big brother you haven't seen in six months? Yes, go away! You go away.
SPEAKER_00You go away. I don't care, you go away.
SPEAKER_08Fine! She uh you hear the lock click and the door opens. You see your sister standing before you. She's got her hair kind of shaved along the side. She's got um uh uh black lace gloves and one of those skeleton hands that fits on top of your hand. Like one of those metal skeleton things. You see, she's got like a shirt that if pop punk bands existed, hell yes. It would be like a My Chemical romance. Yeah, like a My Chemical Romance type thing.
SPEAKER_03My alchemical romance.
SPEAKER_08She has a My Alchemical Romance shirt. And you see that her skin is gray. And that's where we're gonna end the session. Thank you all so much for listening. We're shook. We're all shook. Fuck me.
SPEAKER_09Her makeup is ugly. I feel like I have I ooh, I have shivers.
SPEAKER_05That's good.
SPEAKER_09In a good way.
SPEAKER_05The flag's so creepy.
SPEAKER_09It's so creepy. I'm sorry I yelled again.
SPEAKER_05I assume I assume that was I don't know why everyone got mad at Janice.
SPEAKER_08We'll talk more about it on the talk back, but I feel like it was so funny to me when you guys were all getting mad at Janice, like you didn't share these details because I sent Janice these details, or Shane these details like a week ago, two weeks ago. Um we had the basics.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we've been talking about it for a few weeks.
SPEAKER_08Like Yeah, we we and like we had the like gray skin and the like you know, people not remember we had all that from like the beginning, but like the the specific like you can turn into a tree was recent.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Um Wow. What a we're back on the main thing now, guys.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited to go over some theories in the talk back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm so excited for it. Some classic Matt Moran incredibly wrong theories.
SPEAKER_09Me too. We and and uh we we heard that y'all like the deep dives and the tangents. Um, but yeah, so we're gonna get into that for short.
SPEAKER_05But and if you want to hear yeah, if you want to hear us talk about it, you have to go to Patreon for it, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_08Patreon.com slash trying our quest.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_10Trying our quest. Thank you all. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02I don't want to interrupt Adele, but it's only three dollars to get access to the talk back. That's true. So you can get access to the talk back. That's true.
SPEAKER_08Look at Matt looking that up on his computer.
SPEAKER_10And Adele isn't Adele isn't always there, but she does she we might bring her on sometime.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Well, anyway.
SPEAKER_10The real one.
SPEAKER_08Thank you all so much for listening. We'll see you next week.
SPEAKER_09Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_08And as always, let's roll.

SPEAKER_11Emily, uh Senna Arcadius' personal assistant.
SPEAKER_09Shout out to Kevin, who unfortunately had to stop wearing his gray goth makeup once the plague started. And shout out to Damien, who was the runner-up and uh county commissioner for the Temple District.
SPEAKER_08Shout out to Phoebe, who was the unnamed uh barge driver who sat really awkwardly while everyone was yelling at each other.
SPEAKER_02And uh shout out to Catherine, who um was affected by the plague and unfortunately was turned into a cat slowly over a week.
SPEAKER_05Oh, hey there, kids. It's Janice Apylon here, and here to tell you that this could not be done without the help of some amazing people, including Caroline Petrov at Hell of a Fever, uh, who did our amazing album art, and also Tony Brofie at Anthony Brofe, who wrote our theme song. If you're interested in finding the cast on Instagram, you can find them at at Cllo.donald, at more morin, at sjordanx2, at Sarah underscore Katrenich, or at Spencer Wilden. SPEAKER_08I I just wrote on my paper Picross is small.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. We just ran away from Picross. I think Picross was going to where we were. We escaping to stick around.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. I'm glad you didn't. I'm glad you didn't.
SPEAKER_05And Spencer doesn't have a Picross voice ready yet.
SPEAKER_04Made me Picross!
SPEAKER_12No, I think Picross I'm your dad! We're gonna cut all of this out, but I think Picross's voice is just the that one. Uh it's not so Las Vegas. Yeah, basically, it's the guy from episode one who I love to do. He's like Radulan's guy, yeah.
SPEAKER_10Hey, Alexi. Watto.
SPEAKER_08Oh god, Wato, what a guy, what a what a piece of work. Waddado. Yeah, canonical.
SPEAKER_04That's how you got the mitochondria.
