Welcome back to Trying Art Quest.
SPEAKER_05Take off your shoes, but make yourself comfortable.
SPEAKER_07Please, please.
SPEAKER_03Why are you looking at me? They were your friends. They were your friends. We're getting on the furniture.
SPEAKER_07They're getting on the furniture, Sarah.
SPEAKER_09And Shane defenestrated them. Kicked them out. Pushed them out of window. Pushed them out of a window, yeah. Oh, oh, wow. Defenestration of Prague. If you remember. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, I thought that I thought it was cool. I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_07No, that's okay. Um and ultimately my friends are coming over tomorrow and they're going to do the exact same thing. Yeah. It's just something we all have to, you know, we have to go through it to learn from it.
SPEAKER_03Bring your friends over, they club in the furniture.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and then it goes thrown out the window by Shane.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_07Well, anyway, uh, we're so glad that you've taken off your shoes. Yes. Um we're here to play some rollicking DD. It's so good. But first, before we get into that, we're going to go around and introduce our characters with our character survival school. Yeah, survival schools.
SPEAKER_05Finally ourselves. Yeah. I mean, I've just, you know, I don't know if we should do survival this week. Shane, it's a little bit. Look, it's We said we were going to do it this week. I know, but we're in the middle of Plutopolis. We're kind of already surviving. I feel like we should keep it light. Like totally. We should keep it light, yeah. You're right. Um I was thinking, I was thinking instead, um, we could do um we could talk about our characters' weird little hobbies.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, weird little hobbies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like they're weird little hobbies.
SPEAKER_03Are W-L-Hs?
SPEAKER_05Yes. Like what little things did your character pick up that you like pass the time with?
SPEAKER_12I don't think Patch has any weird little.
SPEAKER_05I think I've got one. Do you have one?
SPEAKER_07I've got one off the dome. Oh, go ahead. We've got a W W L H. Yeah. Um I've recently been getting into whittling.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Which you might be able to tell by the multiple cuts on my finger. There is one that is shallow and big and one that is deep and small. Oh no. Um, but I'm I'm I worked, I I whittled a bird and it didn't turn out very well, but it was my first draft bird, and now I'm going for a second uh of the same bird that will hopefully turn out better because I've learned some lessons.
SPEAKER_03After your FDB?
SPEAKER_07My my FDB, my f my W L H F D B.
SPEAKER_03Nice.
SPEAKER_07And I'm I'm my goal is to carve a roadrunner. Oh, that's sort of what I'm building to.
SPEAKER_03Well, your F D B meets like it.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I saw the picture.
SPEAKER_03I had a long tail.
SPEAKER_07Oh, that was not supposed to be a roadrunner.
SPEAKER_03Oh, well. So that shows that I didn't do a good job. No, I think it's in your I think it's in your New Mexican DNA. Subconscious. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Perhaps, perhaps. Um so that's my uh my W L H is my F D B W T F about uh Y-O-U. I L C M O T H E R F U C K E R S. Sorry, aggressive.
SPEAKER_05These are supposed to be uh acronyms, not spelling out words.
SPEAKER_02You just said a lot of things. Well that is an acronym that's an acronym, but I'm not acronyming.
SPEAKER_05Okay, great. Yeah, uh it's a we all know. Yeah. Were you gonna jump in, Chloe?
SPEAKER_12I wasn't. Oh, I'll I'll go. I'll go since I posited the question. Okay.
SPEAKER_05My name's Shane Jordan. I play Janice Apalan. And Janice is is a little bit similar to Spencer's. We know Janice is a is a whittler, and I think he was um as a kid, I mentioned he he really liked this book about the snake who who dreams to knit. Um and so he whittled some sewing needle or some knitting needles. Um and so now, like in the in the corners of the dark with his dark vision, he like knits. Um and he he's had to repair his uh priest cloak a lot as well. So he definitely keeps at least a repair kit for sewing, but he also knits for fun.
SPEAKER_12He whittled two sticks.
SPEAKER_05He whittled two sticks at one two sewing needles.
SPEAKER_12Two whittle sticks.
SPEAKER_05It was a javelin, he just knocked it, he just broke it in half and then whittled it down. And now he has two sewing needles instead of one javelin.
SPEAKER_12It's like those big needles for that like chunky thread.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he really likes using the thick thread, like the rope-like thread. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07I I feel like it so fits Janice's vibe to in the goth aesthetic of sitting in the corner of a dark room but also being sweet and knitting a little thing. Yeah. That's really fun.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. And uh and that's Janice. That's his W L H.
SPEAKER_03Hi everyone. My name is Serica Trenich, and I play Lucinae, not um I think that obviously anything Lucy does is a little weird. What? I think when Lucy gets stressed, needs to blow up some steam, um, she goes oyster diving. Oh uh and I think that that kind of helps her like you know, the pressure of like going down to the ocean floor and kind of picking up some oysters, maybe shucking some pearls.
SPEAKER_05I was just gonna say, nothing clears your head like shucking.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Yep. Uh and so was that was that an entendre?
SPEAKER_05No, just like if you know, when sometimes you're frustrated, you just need a good shuck.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Aw. Shucks.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah.
SPEAKER_07Shane's got evil eyes right now.
SPEAKER_03I I feel like I'm waiting for it.
SPEAKER_05Never does this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so so that's what she would do.
SPEAKER_05Does she shuck raw oysters?
SPEAKER_03Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Jesus.
SPEAKER_03Does she shuck raw?
SPEAKER_05Does she shuck raw oysters?
SPEAKER_01We have to move on.
SPEAKER_03No, she okay. Here's what it is. Shane. She once shucked a raw oyster with a boy named Philandro.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_03Man, she was an adult.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Good, good, good. Put the pieces together. Put the pieces together.
SPEAKER_03And shucked raw, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_03And she philandrod.
SPEAKER_05Oh, there it is. Sorry. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, that was his name. He philandrod.
SPEAKER_05We've got to move on.
SPEAKER_03Hi everyone.
SPEAKER_12My name is Chloe O'Donnell, and I play Patch Needies, aka Patch. And um Patch also has a bunch of weird little hobbies. Um, when he's back in his his home base, he likes to tinker and stuff. But since he's been on the road, and it's, you know, hard to keep all the screws straight, he's dived back into an old kind of hobby that he had growing up. His parents made him take um pan flute lessons when he was younger. You know, Patch didn't really like it, but he did take them. And since he's been on the road, he made his own little his own little pan flute. Um, and he's been trying to toot out some melodies. And um toot toot. Yeah, that's it. It's interesting for Patch to be in touch with something that's natural, natural reads.
SPEAKER_03Oh, is it the same like mouthfeel as the vape? So like it kind of trying to stop smoking.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, yeah, it is. I think it's um weird for him to create something from him himself, but I think he learned a lot from his experiences on the stage. Um, and I think he's getting in touch with that part of himself, very secretly away from the rest of the group.
SPEAKER_05That's I imagine like Patch putting down the vape, pulling out the pan floop, and instead of going to touch grass, he like throws the grass. Well, no, because it's like, you know, it's growing around him. Well, like, yeah, because like Pan is the is the god of wild nature. So like Patch runs out into the forest, and I don't think Patch realizes it, but as he plays the pipe, there's like flowers blooming behind him. Oh my gosh. He's like frolicking. He doesn't do a lot of twirls, yeah. Everyone's asleep.
SPEAKER_12He's like, heh heh, time for me to be bad.
SPEAKER_05There's fireflies dancing. He has no idea.
SPEAKER_12He definitely taped one of his vapes to the end so that like when he needs a break, when he needs to inhale, he can go.
SPEAKER_08That's awesome. Yeah, so that's patch. So cute.
SPEAKER_09Cool. Hi, I'm Matt Moran. I play Rex. Uh Rex's weird little hobby uh started because his dad said he needed to have more things on his like resume to get into college. Uh, so he started volunteering at an animal shelter. Oh but he's only got plus one to animal handling, and he's kind of a big oaf, so they only allow him in the kitty room.
SPEAKER_04Why would they only allow him in the kitty room?
SPEAKER_09He reads to them. To make them feel more comfortable around humans. Or just so sweet. Humanoid people. And so he liked it. So he does it more.
SPEAKER_07He does it? He finds straight. Yeah, when he goes home. Oh, when he goes home.
SPEAKER_12He finds straight guys. No, but that's why that's why he wanted to pet those plagues.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Oh, that's so sweet.
SPEAKER_03What books did he read to the cats?
SPEAKER_09Um The Game.
SPEAKER_12The Mogus Manifesto.
SPEAKER_0548 Laws of Power.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Yeah. Fair Night 451.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Uh yeah, The Road. Rex accidentally reading literature and not using any of it for school or realizing. Yeah. Just math text.
SPEAKER_00No comprehension, just reading. Cat on a hot tin roof. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Rex going, yeah, I saw the new Wuthering Heights, but I don't know if it was quite faithful to the original source material.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, the title was in quotation marks.
SPEAKER_07As he's he's just saying this to the cat.
SPEAKER_03I really like this.
SPEAKER_07And then he always goes, What do you think?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well ours were cute this time. Oh, it was really cute. No, well, you all pressed and asked.
SPEAKER_05No, this was that was my fault.
SPEAKER_07That was that's on me. Lucy. Well, Lucy's was all about, as we all know, getting into a body of water.
SPEAKER_03So? Yes.
SPEAKER_07And what body of water, perhaps, may we get into?
SPEAKER_03Ooh, the recap.
SPEAKER_07But mayhaps, perhaps we Dive into the Recap. Splash! Nice, bringing it back. Bringing it back. Splish, splash. Itinerant infection. Oh. Ferric fireball. Tree transformation. You knew that one had to be in there, right?
SPEAKER_09It's easy. It's low-hanging fruit on thee.
SPEAKER_07Excellent. Last session began with the party split between worlds as Janus fell to the astral plague. Oops. In the overworld, the party desperately tried mouth to mouth, healing magic, and more to no avail, prompting a rattled Circe to leave, seeking the guidance of Whisper, the fell priest of Erebos, known to the rest of Plutopolis as the dreaded plague bringer. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Planar Divide, Janus found himself in a starry mirror of Plutopolis. This place he was in was populated by large, aberrant, levitating beasts, ghostly outlines of his friends on the material plane, and a single wooden box on a pedestal before him. Recognizing the box as the box of many things, what he and his friends seek to hopefully end the plague, he reached in, drawing forward the image of a lance, strengthening himself before returning to the material plane. Here, Janus's earlier actions attracted the attention of one of the sentient clouds of miasmic plague, which began jetting after the party as they fled down the river to Janus' home. In the ensuing fight, the party discovered that though the clouds were immune to non-magical attacks, they were vulnerable to attacks by fire or radiance. Attacks such as Janus' hand of healing, or Lucy's fireball.
SPEAKER_12Oh yeah. That was very effective.
SPEAKER_07Um also hurt by that fireball were Patch and Rex, and that was awesome. Just a little bit. Just a little blow-up.
SPEAKER_00Just almost all of our HV.
SPEAKER_07I asked. Still, at the tail end of the fight, Patch and Rex found themselves similarly subject to the mysterious plague, seeing the same astral realm as Janice had seen but minutes earlier. Patch, on his draw from the box, received a blessing of fate, allowing him to cast a single wish spell at any point in the future. Rex, on the other hand, received the full force of the disease, as he began the slow process of turning into a snake tree. Coming back to the material plane, Rex found himself frustrated by his friend's responses to his infection, as well as by what it means for his self-perception as a hero.
SPEAKER_12To be fair, we weren't treating him very well.
SPEAKER_09I'm glad you agree.
SPEAKER_07Nice. Eventually the party returned to Sylvan Heights, where a frightened Lucy woke up Pythia, Apollon, and Midas Apollon, forcing the party to share their grim news. The night passed on, with no sign of Cersei, whisper, or of more plague heading the party's way. So you guys eventually went to bed and you wake up in the morning. What time do you think you wake up?
SPEAKER_05So Janice only needs a four-hour trance. So Janice is up first, um, and he's on a mission. Um his parents also only need a four-hour trance.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So he gets together with his mom and dad and uh they scheme. Um and Janice uses his knitting skills, and so um his parents help him make um some little superhero masks. Um and he makes one for everybody. Uh so he's like making little masks and like re-adjusting his priest cloak into a like a superhero cape, and like his parents are just helping him out to do that.
SPEAKER_07Your parents are so excited to do that.
SPEAKER_05I know.
SPEAKER_07Oh, a little craft?
SPEAKER_05Oh, I love a little craft. I know. Dad, I need some of your I'm I'm gonna be golden hours, so I'm gonna need some of that gold fabric that you have. You've got so much gold fabric. I know you do.
SPEAKER_07Michael's was having a clear out sale. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_05They closed because the plague really um is such a shame because Michael and Michael were such a good couple. They were the two of Michael's their store.
SPEAKER_07Oh yeah. Now we have to go to the Joann's. Eventually your mom heads out. She has a meeting with uh some of the other council members to try to figure out this like aid package that's coming through. But soon your friends awake.
SPEAKER_05Good morning.
SPEAKER_07Hi, everyone.
SPEAKER_05Hi.
SPEAKER_03Wow, that was a lovely sleep.
SPEAKER_05I feel great. Isn't the trundle awesome?
SPEAKER_12Yes, I love a trundle.
SPEAKER_03Me too.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, the secret is is there's actually like natural moss growing in it. Um, like the really soft, fluffy kind, and my mom grows it fresh every time someone stays over.
SPEAKER_02Wow. That's amazing.
SPEAKER_05So it's like very oxygenating too, you know. You f you wake up and you're just kind of infused with vitamins and and pure air.
SPEAKER_12Usually I wake up really sweaty, but today only a little sweaty.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it breathes.
SPEAKER_12That's good, especially because you're, you know, ill. Oh yeah. Well, I feel fine. Oh, good. Which if you mean if by ill you mean sick. And if by sick you mean cool. Uh I meant plague. Oh.
SPEAKER_05Which reminds me, um, I know we're in a dire situation, um, and I wanted us all to be able to put on a grave face. Okay. Um, so I made us all these these superhero masks, and I ditched in our superhero names. So here's here's one for the Donda of Fate.
SPEAKER_12Whoa!
SPEAKER_05And one for Afternoon Delight.
SPEAKER_12Well, I like that it's gonna be knit against my eyes.
SPEAKER_05And uh Rex. Yeah, just hand it to me. I know what it is. We okay, the thing is is we decided on the name before I know. I know I know.
SPEAKER_09I know, I know.
SPEAKER_05I'll wear it. But I put I I put a U in there in the in the morning wood. That makes sense, because it's pretty sad. Yeah, so now it's like morning wood like the dove.
SPEAKER_03I thought I thought you were gonna say it's like morning wood like you would. Like you I thought you put the U in the wood.
SPEAKER_05I didn't. Oh. That would be clever too. Good idea. I already stitch no, I already stitched. Just use like I don't have my steam. That's okay. We'll work on it later. Okay, here's yours. How does it look?
SPEAKER_00Patch uses, pulls out a little bit of his magic grease and makes a little U on the wood as well.
SPEAKER_09Thank you, Patchy. Listen, I'm sorry about last night. I got a little too rude with you all, and I just am scared and I'm trying to be vulnerable. And I felt like you guys weren't taking it seriously, but I know, like Lucy, you were making jokes. Try to make me feel better. That's really nice. Patch, I know that you have that wish just in case. I don't want you to have to work use it on me. Janice, I don't think you said anything or did anything bad. So pretty normal from you.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I mean, you you still got you still got sick trying to help out me and my town and my family.
SPEAKER_09So and I and I wanna still help them out. And that's the thing. I want to figure it out, and I don't want to go home. I wanna be here with you guys.
SPEAKER_12Look, Rex, it's it's you know, nice that you apologized. Um, I uh Are you trying to think of a bun? No. I'm trying to say that I also apologize for being um perhaps a bit insensitive. I just, you know, I wasn't worried about you, man. Like I think that you're gonna beat this thing.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, we're we're gonna beat this thing.
SPEAKER_05We could do it. We're the best superhero crime fighting team, plague fighting team in the city right now.
SPEAKER_03And no matter what happens, we're gonna go with a bang. So if we all get it and die, that's fine.
SPEAKER_09Maybe literally with a bang. You really wanna get it, don't you, Lucy?
SPEAKER_03No, I don't wanna get it. I don't I don't wanna get it. I think I've just resigned myself to the fact that I might get it.
SPEAKER_12And that's gonna be okay. It's not that bad, Lucy. You might like it when you get it because you go into that cool starry space and you like weird things, do weird things like that?
SPEAKER_09And we all have to leave the room.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I've been in weird starry spaces like all the time. That's true. Maybe I live in a starry space, like maybe more than I live in the real world.
SPEAKER_09Whoa, and if you had the plague, you would go to like what we normally see.
SPEAKER_03Maybe, yeah. And like maybe that would just be maybe I would disappear and you never see me again. Maybe the red that you see is different from the red that I see. Maybe. And if you're left on red, then you go right for go. Right.
SPEAKER_09So in New Jersey.
SPEAKER_07Midas knocks on the uh doorframe and goes, Is everyone decent in there?
SPEAKER_03Hey Dad, yeah, you can as much as we're gonna be.
SPEAKER_07I sure hope that means you have clothes on.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Okay, cool. He brings in uh a plate full of pancakes and he goes, I I tried to write the word friendship with pancakes, uh, but I forgot the R. So it just kind of says fiendship. Ooh. That counts? That's cool. I hope that um, but yeah, no, I put chocolate chips in somebody. I also put some raspberries and some others, um, and uh also a little bit of lemon rind.
SPEAKER_05Ooh, those are my favorite ones.
SPEAKER_00I'll take the chocolate. Pash just grabs a pancake and is eating it like with one hand. Okay, sorry.
SPEAKER_09I just thought you'd be like, No, no, no, no, no. I'm not gonna do it.
SPEAKER_07No, I made it just in case anyone wanted it. I didn't know. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_09This is really rude of me.
SPEAKER_03Rex doesn't eat fruits or vegetables.
SPEAKER_09Sorry, I'm just a little hungover.
SPEAKER_03Minus this, these are these are delicious. My dad used to make these just for me like this for when I was a kid.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03And it and it just it takes me back. It makes me think of when I was a kid. And I just want to say that's great.
SPEAKER_05Janice is standing behind Lucy's staring at his dad, just shaking his head vigorously, no. It's not true.
SPEAKER_07Minus his nodding and smiling at Lucy. So as you guys uh you get get ready for the day, you see out the window, you haven't seen Plutopolis in the morning yet since you've got back. Janice, of course, you've seen this many times, but you see, even though the plague has descended, the sky is gray and overcast, and there's whipping currents of spores through the air, there's still bits of light passing through in the morning. As the sun is rising, it's not yet over that big cloud of plague that's over the town. So you have the best light right now. And even that central pillar, that chromatic palace, uh made entirely of glass that is largely obfuscated by the forming plague. Even little bit bits shine through of color sun filtering through the colored glass into the sky beyond.
SPEAKER_03Wow, Janice. Your town is so beautiful. It looked so ugly yesterday. It's so nice this morning.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I see that how that without this horrible um swarming alive disease, this would be a great place to live.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you should see it when there's no clouds. This the light reflects through the chromatic palace and just it's beautiful. It's colorful everywhere, and there's literal rainbows and fairy dust.
SPEAKER_00Do people ever get burned by the like a magnifying glass?
SPEAKER_07Midas pulls up his sleeve and reveals a huge burn on his forehead.
SPEAKER_05Dad, that was your fault. You thought it would be.
SPEAKER_07Well, that was the stove because I got it in my eyes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. He was cooking and the light came in weird. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07That's funny. This one was from today.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_05Dad, you gotta be more careful.
SPEAKER_03He should wear gloves. Same thing happens to my dad all the time.
SPEAKER_05I'm sure. We gotta get going, Dad.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, what's our plan for today, friends?
SPEAKER_05Well, we're gonna track down Cersei, who I think is maybe at the Temple of Death.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, it's still early, so I don't think any of the bars are open.
SPEAKER_03Um, Janice, slow down.
SPEAKER_05Not for your talk. Now you're talking. Not for me, but for the councilwoman's prior media brother.
SPEAKER_12That's right.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then we've also got a party tonight, so we'll have to prepare.
SPEAKER_12I'll watch the party tonight. I don't have to get ready. I'm I'm I'm whoa.
SPEAKER_03Patch.
SPEAKER_05I forgot the patch loves the party.
SPEAKER_03Patch just went transatlantic for a second. I have to get ready for my party later tonight.
SPEAKER_05Can you do that again?
SPEAKER_12I don't know if I can't do it again. I have to get ready. My overalls are all scratched. I don't wear overalls, Lucy. I have suspenders.
SPEAKER_05And you'll need to put on your dress suspenders.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I have a waistcoat. I found it in Janice's closet that I'm gonna wear.
SPEAKER_05Do you have anything? My mom helped uh make that.
SPEAKER_07Do you have anything? I have a waistcoat. I found it in someone's closet.
SPEAKER_05Do you have anything with a cumberbund in your closet? Here's the thing is my parents, I know my dad's a jeweler and my mom's a councilwoman, but my mom can pretty much do like she can like grow her own fabric or she can uh manipulate bugs to get like s fresh silk.
SPEAKER_03That's scary. Can I look in your basement?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but anyway, they're really good at making clothes. Okay, good to know. Between the two of them, like you can make your own whatever you want as far as fabric and stitch together. And then my dad is rife with accessories.
SPEAKER_12Because ever since I had my hat taken away from me, I've been thinking about, you know, ways to drip out a little bit. So I would like to talk to your parents about my party outfit.
SPEAKER_03Gosh, you gotta drip out.
SPEAKER_12I gotta drip out.
SPEAKER_05We should probably go though.
SPEAKER_09I'd really like to talk to your dad about um, you see what I'm wearing right now? You always wear it. Can I make your belt buckle? Can you make it gold?
SPEAKER_12The whole thing?
SPEAKER_09The whole thing. We could ask him. Just make it gold. To just dip the chainmail dress together. That's fair. It's good. No, no, no, no, not dip. Make a new one.
SPEAKER_05Out of gold.
SPEAKER_00Um a six-foot-tall chain link.
SPEAKER_05Can you make a gold chain mail dress? Toga.
SPEAKER_07I can work on it.
SPEAKER_05Um I need it by the night minus.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I could cancel. I was gonna play bridge with the girls, but um I could cancel that. I think you could do both.
SPEAKER_03Well, if you think about it, bridge is like curving chain mail.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So you're right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. In many ways, you're right.
SPEAKER_03Thanks. That's what my dad says.
SPEAKER_07Oh my gosh. Okay. Well, I'll get my materials. If you guys need anything, you just give me a holler.
SPEAKER_05Great. Oh, are you and mom coming to the party tonight?
SPEAKER_07Um, yes. Your your mom uh doesn't love being out in like a crowded place. Um, just in case the plague strikes, she doesn't want it to take the whole council. Sure. But um they have to they have uh I think a vote they have to settle tonight.
SPEAKER_05So we'll be back to get ready with you and then we'll go over together.
SPEAKER_04That's written.
unknownBye!
SPEAKER_07Bye. You guys head out um to the temple district. Yeah. It takes you from the suburbs, it's it's about an hour commute by barge. You know, you've got to transfer, you've got to go to Broadway Junction.
SPEAKER_12Um I hate having to take more than one barge.
SPEAKER_05I know, and the public works has really been has been bogged up by the by the plague. So there's not as many drivers, uh barge drivers anymore. Yeah, you people really shouldn't be out.
SPEAKER_12That's true.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07There was a route that could take you 30 minutes, but that barge line is under construction. Yeah. So you have to take you have to go an hour and a half out of your way.
SPEAKER_05The whole canal into the temple district is down.
unknownYou do.
SPEAKER_10You just look to be so serious.
SPEAKER_07You you you get off in the arcanery and like walk across the bridge to the temple district.
SPEAKER_05Uh there's bikers.
SPEAKER_12We should have just walked. It would have been the same amount of time.
SPEAKER_05It's true. And there's there's too many bikers on the bridge, honestly, and they do not care for pedestrians.
SPEAKER_12On your left!
SPEAKER_05Oh, come on.
SPEAKER_12Okay, well, maybe maybe we shouldn't be walking in the bike lane.
SPEAKER_05They have their own lane. They're in they're in the walking lane.
SPEAKER_12Okay, well, Rex's sweat is is is the thing of the baby. Out of the way, goat boy! Whoa, whoa, whoa!
SPEAKER_09I'm not as dexterous as I used to be. I'm slower.
SPEAKER_12Oh.
SPEAKER_09Oh, here, Rex.
SPEAKER_12I'm sorry, Rex. That's okay.
SPEAKER_09I just want to like let you guys know I'm just moving a little slower.
SPEAKER_05Why don't you take my shoes, Rex? Your shoes of flying. Uh you're worried about mobility, and I just think, you know, if you were, you know, you can't lay roots down if you're in the air.
SPEAKER_09So But you love to fly.
SPEAKER_05I it's convenient for me, but I can also jump kinda high. So, you know, why don't you take them? I'll borrow them.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay, thank you. Kick off my shoes of boards.
SPEAKER_00Your Air Jordans. We switch.
SPEAKER_05What is shoes Rex wearing? Uh boots. Just some boots. Like leather boots.
SPEAKER_10Thick.
SPEAKER_00He's wearing boots with a toga.
SPEAKER_10Have you not seen the I think I have.
SPEAKER_00I just haven't never registered that that's what was going on.
SPEAKER_07As you're walking, like a bluebird lands on Rex's head. I believe it's a big thing. Bird seem to really like landing on Rex. Oh no.
SPEAKER_12Get off of me. Get off of me. You should sing to it.
SPEAKER_07Eventually you make your way into the temple district where you see uh you pass a number of temples that seem either closed down or like operated by like a skeleton crew of priests.
SPEAKER_09Is that where they are skeletons?
SPEAKER_07That's where the skeletons are. And they're playing their bones like xylophones. Um you pass the temple of Heliod, where there's a bright golden sun inlaid at the top of the marble columns. You pass uh temple to Clothus, which looks very similar to the temple in Ariaks.
SPEAKER_12Unoriginal, right, Lucy? Uh yeah. Well, maybe because they look the same. Don't all temples look the same? I just meant I I just meant because I this is a different city. Like they could have made their temple more like is it the Plutopolis Clothus Temple?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah, no, you're you're right.
SPEAKER_00Patch backs away.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, come join me in the back patch.
SPEAKER_00He moon walks back.
SPEAKER_07Eventually, you make your way to the temple of Erebos, which is very easy to find because it's covered in plague. It's swirling around the building, you see plague moats that have obscured the entire face of the building. This is the only temple that seems to have been fully taken by the plague. Uh, the rest seem, you know, they have the same spores around them that the whole city has, but they don't seem to be guarded by the plague in any kind of way.
SPEAKER_05Something in there, which might be the priests of death themselves, is scaring this plague.
SPEAKER_12I mean, do we just go in? I don't know if we can sneak up on a plague.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, do we what's the front door situation?
SPEAKER_07Right now it's obfuscated by plague. Should we burn it? It's like a it's like a waterfall of dust.
SPEAKER_09Oh wait, guys, can we? Oh, a tree. I want to try. I I already got plague. I could just walk up to it and do magic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah? Okay, sure.
SPEAKER_05I was just thinking Patch could maybe like make a Molotov cocktail or something. I don't know. Yeah, it was.
SPEAKER_12I mean, I couldn't shoot my firebolt at it. I can shoot a fireball at it.
SPEAKER_09I could just do blooming blade at it.
SPEAKER_12Well, my firebolt is a cantrip. Oh.
SPEAKER_09Mine's a cantrip too.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, go for it, Rex. Go for it, Rex.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_10Rex walks up to the door and um casts booming blade on his sword, and uh he rolls one damage.
SPEAKER_07As you walk up, you are able to make it through that cascade because you already have the plague.
SPEAKER_10Already got it. Don't need it.
SPEAKER_07And you brandish your sword and take a swipe, and there's just like a little poof around your sword as you swing through the cascading dust.
SPEAKER_10Guys, magic's not working anymore on this thing. Sorry.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I feel like we're gonna do it, have to do a little more damage than that, Rex, but that was a good start.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, thanks.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but I well I uh, you know, I eased it up for you guys.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, Patch walks up. Is there like a source of this waterfall?
SPEAKER_07It seems to be coming from the top of the building. Like you lay a cloth over a building and then transmogrify that cloth into spores. Like it's just draped over the top of the building, flowing down. And as they hit the ground, they just sort of like recycle back into the system, go back up to the top.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I guess I'm gonna aim for the top, and I I uh uh fire in the hole, bam, and I got a 13.
SPEAKER_0713? That hits?
SPEAKER_1215 damage.
SPEAKER_0715 damage. We'll say so 15 damage, it's not enough to cure the building, yeah, but it is enough to like burn away a little temporary doorway through which you all can walk.
SPEAKER_12I mean, run in, Lucy. Go through the doorway that I made. Uh I fire I grab onto you and like pick my feet up. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Why don't you just take this torch? Janice uses Druidcraft to light a torch and it's like, fire, it doesn't like it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but you can't say, why don't you use this torch before you've made the torch?
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03There's not a torch there. That's why I didn't use the torch.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm sorry. Here, use this torch.
SPEAKER_03Okay, sure. Thank you. And Lucy's like, Yes.
SPEAKER_07The the plague backs away from that fire is usually you uh enter the temple, which the door it doesn't have really doors so much as just an opening. And as you enter, uh you find yourself in sort of a lobby area, a sort of front chamber that has a number of drawings in it, a number of framed drawings of people with little gold pieces set next to the frames, in some cases candles, in some cases like toys, jewelry, little mementos.
SPEAKER_12Like altars.
SPEAKER_07Like altars.
SPEAKER_12We'll do a respectful glance at some of these altars to perception check.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, I want to look for anyone that has the last name not. I got a 16.
SPEAKER_05Can I see if these are like religious, like is this part of the religious practice?
SPEAKER_07You can all roll into one perception check. Uh yeah. It seems like this is a a tribute and a service that the Church of Erebos offers of like a funerary service where they memorialize the dead. You can leave uh tributes here without always having to go out to the graveyard. Patch, you do see that there are a couple nicer things, but not a ton of like magic coming off of anything here. Not no like jewel jewel embedded daggers or anything like that. But um you do see one small stuffed animal that is emanating a little bit of magic.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean patches are gonna figure anything.
SPEAKER_05Do you want me to cast detect magic on it?
SPEAKER_12Sure. I mean I assume it's just um someone's toy. Love magic?
SPEAKER_05Oh, it's a magic toy though. But maybe it is love.
SPEAKER_07You uh casting detect magic on it. It seems to be a stuffed animal that when you sleep with it, it makes your dreams pleasant.
SPEAKER_05Uh it makes your dreams pleasant if you sleep with it. They sell these.
SPEAKER_03You guys dream?
SPEAKER_12Patch will leave a little cog on that altar and then walk to the Lucy, we know you dream room.
SPEAKER_03I I I was surprised that you guys also dream.
SPEAKER_05Interesting. Um I'm gonna switch my sensor to detect poison and disease and see if I can look for the bad parts.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, um, so it w within this room you detect disease like dripping off the walls, um, but no massive clouds of disease are getting in your vision besides directly outside. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Well, it's everywhere.
SPEAKER_07Lucy, you do see there are a couple frames uh that have names under them that say blank knot. You see uh uh Dywin knot, undywin knot, you see a lot of you know, a a good number of them.
SPEAKER_03Sailor knot.
SPEAKER_07Say S-A-Y-L-E-R not, the Scout knot. Oh Skip Knot.
SPEAKER_09You see Slipknot. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Fucking metal. So metal. Guys, this is what I'm going for, guys.
SPEAKER_03I think my family's from here.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you got family.
SPEAKER_03Thanks, Rex.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, when you're here, you've got family.
SPEAKER_03That's isn't it an Olive Guard thing?
SPEAKER_05Nah, maybe. I think it's an original thing that Rex just said. Yeah. That no one's ever said before. I don't know. I've never heard it before.
SPEAKER_03Um it's a guys, I know, I know it's not my family, but okay, it's my family.
SPEAKER_05Hey, yeah. All of these people, if they've got the last name not, that means they probably have a similar feeling about family as you do. So in a way, they understand you just like family.
SPEAKER_03That's wow, Janice. That's really deep.
SPEAKER_05That's what I was trying to say.
SPEAKER_03That's okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09You know?
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Let's let's go kick this plague's butt. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Should we go into the in the apps of the church?
SPEAKER_12The the the the the the inner sanctum. I want to kick it in its inner sanctum. Oh.
SPEAKER_05Conveniently, the next room over is the inner sanctum, so let's head on in.
SPEAKER_07As you guys enter the inner sanctum, immediately something feels off.
SPEAKER_12Oh, stinky in it. I don't like the inner sacrum.
SPEAKER_07There's bad GG. Inside, right in the doorway, you see statues. They seem to be priests. You see, a couple have staffs with uh sons at the top, and they are also turned to stone.
SPEAKER_03Are they like normal size or are they bigger than normal size?
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_05These look like priests of Heliad.
SPEAKER_07Deeper in the chamber, you see this chamber is set up like a funeral home. Um there's an altar at the front, um, there's there's pews. It's set up, you know, more what we would consider a traditional church setup than a lot of temples are, because a large function of the the church of Erebos is honoring the dead.
SPEAKER_05There's still a continental breakfast out.
SPEAKER_09Oh is it warm? Rex puts his hand in the Ice Cold! Sorry.
SPEAKER_07You see, by the dais, there are a few statues that look like priests of Erebos, not like Whisper, um, like just normal looking people in robes, and they also seem to be in sort of a defensive position, like looking kind of up. There is, however, one statue that does look similar to someone you've seen before.
SPEAKER_09Uh-oh. Fuck. I don't know.
SPEAKER_07You see a gaunt figure with this time not gold epaulets, but ruby red stone epaulettes. Rather than having no mouth, this figure has no ears and does have a mouth. And it is also looking up at the ceiling and has been turned to stone.
SPEAKER_03When you say f looks familiar, do we know who it is?
SPEAKER_05Or it's just giving Whisper but with a different body part missing?
SPEAKER_07Yes. Okay, he looks to be of the same type as Whisper.
SPEAKER_10But like a more generous lover.
SPEAKER_12Yes. But not a good listener.
SPEAKER_10A terrible listener.
SPEAKER_12Bad at directions, but tries really hard.
SPEAKER_10Which would you which would you prefer?
SPEAKER_07Um no ears.
SPEAKER_12I can make stuff work.
SPEAKER_07They're surrounding a dais in the center of the like altar.
SPEAKER_12This is weird because usually I thought the people get stoned over like what's happening to Rex over a period of time. This looks like these people all got stoned at the same time.
SPEAKER_05Well, we know the disease is basically a pull from the box of many things at this point, and it's probably not that they all pulled the same thing.
SPEAKER_09So maybe someone pulled the ability to turn them into stone.
SPEAKER_03We met a Medusa once before. Could it happen again? I want to cast Minor Illusion on the floor and make it like a mirror so I can look and see up at the ceiling of what they're looking up at without looking at myself.
SPEAKER_07That's really cool. Make a perception check. And I'll say make it with advantage because that's so awesome.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Oh, it's a 12.
SPEAKER_0712? Okay. Out of the corner of your eye, you see something move on the ceiling.
SPEAKER_03Does anybody else want to look in my my magic puddle?
SPEAKER_09I'll look in. I'll look in.
SPEAKER_12Okay.
SPEAKER_09I already have the disease.
SPEAKER_12I'm gonna make a uh arcana check on one of these people, not looking up, but just trying to maybe comparing two to see if I can tell if there's similarities. They would tell me that this happened from a sp a particular reason.
SPEAKER_07Okay. So Rex, make your perception check, and Patch, go ahead and make a medicine check.
SPEAKER_12Oh, a medicine check?
SPEAKER_07Or arcana.
SPEAKER_12Okay, Arcana is 16.
SPEAKER_07Uh, yeah, 16. This was not a gradual petrification. This was an immediate petrification. With your check, you're also able to tell these guys were fighting. These guys were fighting something. They don't seem to be facing each other, so it's not like the priest of Heliad came in, started fighting the priests of Erebos. They might have even been petrified at different times. Like one group might have been fighting them, the other priests come in, they fight the same thing.
SPEAKER_03There's some wear on.
SPEAKER_12I don't want to make assumptions, but I remember growing up, um, m my mom told me about another creature that um can make people turn into stone called a basilisk.
SPEAKER_07Rex, what did you get on your perception check? I got a 19. You see not just one, but two large snakes. Running along the rafters of the ceiling.
SPEAKER_12Oh my god. Basilisk!
SPEAKER_05Did did Farrica give birth to this or something?
SPEAKER_12Basilisk! Basilisk!
SPEAKER_05Basilisk. Basilisk.
SPEAKER_03Maybe. Why don't you go talk to her?
SPEAKER_05I don't really give a shit about their uh origins, Jimmy. I just, you know, uh as soon as I think she's maybe on my side, I think they're snakes. Can you talk to them?
SPEAKER_07So I I will say about basilisks, they are less snakey. They they're they are snakes, but they've got small, almost vestigial like legs. Like more like salamanders, yeah.
SPEAKER_12Ugh, ugh. That makes me that makes me like them less. Gingretch.
SPEAKER_09Uh, does anyone speak parcel tongue? Maybe histos can talk to them.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, yeah, try that.
SPEAKER_09Actually, can I just say something? The vibe that they're giving off is totally evil. So I don't know if like we could like talk to 'em. Maybe we should just get ready to fight.
SPEAKER_12They definitely see us and know that we're here.
SPEAKER_09Because like, I'm in the mood to get stoned, but I'm not in the mood to get stoned, you know?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Why don't we uh just act natural in Janice hands Rex uh javelin?
SPEAKER_03Can we look at them? Can we not look at them? Is it if we get if we look at them in the eye, is that how we get turned into stone?
SPEAKER_12I don't know if it's a bite thing or if it's a look thing, but can I do a history check real quick or something to see if I would know that?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, anyone who wants to can make a history check.
SPEAKER_09Ooh, I'd love to do history check.
SPEAKER_12I'm trying to remember what my mother told me.
SPEAKER_09Oh, I got a goody.
SPEAKER_12I got oh, you got better than me. I got a two. I got an 18.
SPEAKER_09I got a 21.
SPEAKER_12Time to do that. That's why I asked the question, because I have no idea.
SPEAKER_07They're currently, they seem active, they seem riled. They seem to know that you're here, but there's something keeping them at bay. You also know with those uh very good history checks that they can direct their uh their gaze at you. You do not have to be looking them in the eye. Uh it's less a Medusa thing where it's like you have to make eye contact and more of a they can look at you and whatever spell they're casting on you, they can activate.
SPEAKER_03I So they have to like do it to you, not just like on you.
SPEAKER_07It's it's more active, less passive.
SPEAKER_09I remember this from my Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them class. That what just Spencer just told us. And also, the professor totally sucked.
SPEAKER_03Totally. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Did you know that you can use their uh stomach acid to cure petrification? No, I think you just missed that class. Oh, sorry, that was more of a medicine thing. It was in one of my medical books. It's one of the remedies.
SPEAKER_03So, okay. Um, should we do distract and attack?
SPEAKER_09Well, I think we need the bile to cure all these other jabronies.
SPEAKER_03Well, we gotta kill one. I mean, we can use dead bile.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, exactly. I say we we kill them. Can I yell at one? Hey, can you talk? That's a no. Histos, did he say something?
SPEAKER_12I'm just kill why aren't they attacking us now? I cast my magic missiles.
SPEAKER_07As you cast your magic missiles, the duration runs out on the minor illusion on the floor, and you see as that happens, they all turn towards you. Oh!
SPEAKER_12They were scared of themselves.
SPEAKER_07Let's roll for initiative.
SPEAKER_12Oh Patch got an eight. I got an eight too. Wow.
SPEAKER_07But I have Patch I assume has a higher dexterity now.
SPEAKER_09Uh uh, my dexterity is actually zero now.
SPEAKER_03My initiative is plus two.
SPEAKER_09I got a ten.
SPEAKER_03I got a twenty. Magic missiles are automatic hits.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_03So I don't think she looks up. I think she just keeps her eyes down and like puts her arms up to the sky.
SPEAKER_07Finger guns to the sky.
SPEAKER_03Finger guns to the sky. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So they go blasting up. Are you trying to hit both of them? Just hit one of them.
SPEAKER_03I'm trying to just hit one of them.
SPEAKER_07Great. Roll damage on that.
SPEAKER_03That's seven.
SPEAKER_07As you send these missiles sailing into the air, they like illuminate the rafters of this place, and you see the the full breadth of their weird, like kinda snake, kinda reptile bodies. You see that they are like slithering on their bellies and they're using their arms and legs to like propel them forward. Ooh, like Ghostbuster ghosts. Like Ghostbuster ghosts. They're kind of giving slimer. Yeah. Next in the initiative is these batilisks.
SPEAKER_12Before they go, uh Patch, when his initiative starts on his initiative, he's going to, he's so scared, his reaction of uh casting mirror image goes off. So yeah, two other or three other patches appear to triangulate around him.
SPEAKER_07How do these patches look different than Patch Prime?
SPEAKER_12Uh well one patch, I think, is is like wearing a fedora and like a pocket watch and like has a cigar. Um one of them like looks like a full like rogue. And I think one of them looks like Patch, but he doesn't have like a face. Woo! Patches activate.
SPEAKER_09It's Patch in the gang. This one kind of looks like Whisper, doesn't it? It's got no face.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, the no-face one, yeah. He's scary. These basilisks are going to propel themselves forward, and you see one of them is going to, from the rafters, drop a petrifying gaze down at you guys. Who are the two in the very front?
SPEAKER_05I was gonna say not to throw Rex and Janice under the bus or under the gaze of the basilisk, but I feel like they try to move in front of Lucy and probably Patch too, even though Patch is a baller now.
SPEAKER_07Got it. One of them is up in the rafters and looking down at you, while the other one like cascades himself down the side of the temple. You see that he is dragging himself down a frieze, like a painting in the marble, uh, and he's just completely ripping it into chunks as his claws dig through it.
SPEAKER_05That's so expensive. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07So first I need Rex and Janice to make constitution saving throws.
SPEAKER_05I'm so bad at those. Janice got a natural one. Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_07Janice fails.
SPEAKER_05Rex got an 18.
SPEAKER_07Rex, you pass. Janice. With your first failure, you have the restrained condition and must repeat the saving throw at the end of your next turn. If you succeed the saving throw, you are no longer restrained. If you fail the saving throw, You will have the petrified conditioned.
SPEAKER_05Uh oh.
SPEAKER_07That one uh looks down at you and you see pulses of energy come at you guys from the eyes of this basilisk. The other basilisk is going to land right in front of Rex and take a bite at you.
SPEAKER_09I'm already sick.
SPEAKER_07That's a natural 20. Oh shit. So this is piercing damage and poison damage, and you are resistant to both.
SPEAKER_00Oral damage? Huzzah!
SPEAKER_07You're gonna take oral damage though, which hey, no one's resistant to 36 points of damage with the crit that then gets halved to 18 points of damage.
SPEAKER_09Okay, cool. I would like to do something fun. As a maneuver. When a uh creature damages you with a melee attack roll, you can take a reaction and expend one of your superiority dice to reduce the damage by the number you roll on your superiority die. Hell yeah. Um so I'm going to parry using my strength, and I take seven points off of it. So it was 36 originally?
SPEAKER_07So yeah, so you only take 18 of that, so we'll take the seven off the 18. So that'll be 11 points.
SPEAKER_12Rex, are you dead?
SPEAKER_09On guard.
SPEAKER_12Rex, it looks like you took that hit pretty well.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm like turning into a tree or whatever, but I'm still Rex. Yeah, on that note, I think I'm turning into stone.
SPEAKER_02Oh, wait, Janice, what?
SPEAKER_07Next in the initiative order is Janice.
SPEAKER_05Do you want your shoes back? Uh, no, I think I'm okay. Um, I'm gonna go get that one. And Janice tries to go for the far one and realizes you can't move. Actually, Rex, I'm gonna hit the one that's right next to us. Perfect, my man.
SPEAKER_03Wait, your stone and your wood? Patch that only leaves the other two for us. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Felt and um water. Oh, I want it to be felt. You can be felt and I'll be water.
SPEAKER_05I don't know if felt one. I'm just gonna punch this guy. Uh, I guess I don't know if these are uh are are these if these are plague beasts or just beast beasts.
SPEAKER_12Um they don't look plaggy.
SPEAKER_05But I'm gonna punch them and I'm gonna see if I can get a stunning strike on at least at least one stunning strike on them. So let's see.
SPEAKER_07Um, your attack rolls have disadvantage because you are restrained.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Well, I'll use histos to get advantage on one, so that's a flat. It was a flat three though, so whatever. That is a 15 to hit. And that's that's a natural two.
SPEAKER_07The 15 hits.
SPEAKER_05Then I will add a stunning strike onto it. DC 15 cons save.
SPEAKER_07It fails its constitution saving throw.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I can make you do con saves too. How's it feel to not move? It sucks, right? Huh? Yeah, now we're both just gonna stand here. This is your fault. You started this. Don't get set histo. Tell him he started it. Histos. Hey, defend our on eye. That was badass. I just realized I never rolled damage. Uh eight damage. Eight damage?
SPEAKER_07Damn it. So you uh you stun this one right in front of you, and you see that it's just like it's it's just staring forward. It seems that as soon as it breaks out of this stun, it's gonna try to use its vision on anyone in front of it. Next in the order is Patch.
SPEAKER_09Not to be teacher's pet, but when does he need to roll again?
SPEAKER_07At the end of his turn, thank you so much. Janice. Oh. Go ahead and make a uh constitution saving throw. And why don't you make this one in the Create of Fate?
SPEAKER_03Turns out, yes, you do have homework. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Natural three.
SPEAKER_07As Janus punches this basilisk, you see, as his fist connects with the basilisk, the stone that has started crawling up his legs envelops his body. Part of the stunning strike is the stone blending into the basilisk itself.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_12Janice is stoned. That happened so fast.
SPEAKER_09Uh let's go. We gotta get their bile.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Yeah, nothing too about to do it. It's not my turn, so patch, do something. I can go. Um, can you tell me where the two are?
SPEAKER_07So there's one right in front of Rex and Janice, who are right in front of you, and then there's one in the rafters.
SPEAKER_12Like Yeah, I want to get around to the side of it just in case it does wake up. Um, and I'll take two hammer hits with my dazzling light hammer.
SPEAKER_07Yep, with advantage because it's stone.
SPEAKER_12Okay, first one is uh 24 to hit.
SPEAKER_08That hits.
SPEAKER_12And then the second is an 18 a hit.
SPEAKER_0718 hits.
SPEAKER_12Okay. So Patch, um, yeah, runs over, clops over to the side of this big basilisk monster, and he goes, Hey, don't stone Janice. Why don't you um stop? The first two hits only do 10 damage. So I think he's gonna throw his branding smite onto one of them for an extra 2d6. So Patch is so distraught that Janice is a hurt. Uh, so he does one hit, it's kind of dinky, pulls the other one back, and you see Patch's dazzling light hammer glow, and he does an extra three.
SPEAKER_07You smack into this thing and bring uh the light down with your hammer into it. And it's it's it hurts. It definitely hurts the thing. Next in the order is Rex.
SPEAKER_09Uh oh, Janice. I'm gonna kill this thing for you, buddy, if you can hear me.
SPEAKER_03Good thing he said that bile thing before he turned to stone. Yeah, and not know what to do with that. Because we would have just left him. Yeah, I don't I wouldn't have no idea. Yeah, yeah, we could have hoped for that, but we would have no idea. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I don't know where how to get bile.
SPEAKER_03I think it's in the stomach, probably.
SPEAKER_09Let's just let's spread it on him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Um Rex takes out Black Razor and is gonna take two swipes at the one right in front of him. Hell yeah. The first one is a 19. That hits? Okay. The next one is uh 25 to hit.
SPEAKER_06Both hit.
SPEAKER_09Okay, cool. Uh the first hit is for 10 damage. Hell yeah. And the next hit is for 13 damage. So 23 total.
SPEAKER_07Rex, as you take your second swing, you cleave this thing's head cleaner. Oh.
SPEAKER_12Oh, thank goodness.
SPEAKER_09Oh, fuck. Oh, this thing sucks.
SPEAKER_12Dude, I think that's the bile. What?
SPEAKER_09Get it on Janice.
SPEAKER_12Vial. More like vial. Haha. Wish we had a vial to collect it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Can Rex use his movement to scoop up some goop and kind of spread it all over Janice's face?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, go ahead and scoop some goop. Oh no.
SPEAKER_03Lucy, is this good Yeah, get the goop down in the esophagus. Put it in its mouth. Stick your hand down the esophagus.
SPEAKER_05Down the esophagus. I did phrase staying Janice, so my mouth is open.
SPEAKER_12Even if this doesn't work, Janice kind of deserves this. Is this pile? That is. Does it hurt your hand kind of? Kind of acid yet.
SPEAKER_09Okay. Janice.
SPEAKER_05I'm so upset. Janice.
SPEAKER_09And I kind of just like a pie. Like you would right on and get a little in his mouth.
SPEAKER_07Make a medicine check to see if he takes any damage from this while you do it. Okay.
SPEAKER_10Oh, that's a nat 20. Yeah. Oh, no damage.
SPEAKER_07And you shove it clean in his mouth. Your hand is easy.
SPEAKER_10I linger while my fingers are in his mouth.
SPEAKER_07You like put your hand on his tongue. Janice, you come back, your your the stone starts to fall off your skin, and it feels exfoliating. And you feel Rex's hand still in your mouth.
SPEAKER_03I think it's a gentle caress of the lip.
SPEAKER_05I think Janice immediately vomits onto Rex's hand.
SPEAKER_12Janice, we learned what bile is.
SPEAKER_05Oh girl, I'm so glad. Why did you put it in my mouth?
SPEAKER_12Because you told us to say that.
SPEAKER_09You said we had to mix with your bile in your belly. I said that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you're welcome. Thank you. Thank you. I am I am happy I'm not stone.
SPEAKER_09Maybe you should grab some of this and rub it on the other stone people. It's best to get it in their mouth.
SPEAKER_05That's true. Thanks for killing both the basilisks, everyone.
SPEAKER_03Oh the owner is Lucy. Okay, so Lucy turns to look at the other one and says, believe in Lucy every day. B-I-L-E. And switch bolts at the one up top.
SPEAKER_12Lucy, it's been a bile since you cast that one. Nice patch.
SPEAKER_03Uh um, it was that's a 19.
SPEAKER_0719? 19 hits for sure. Okay.
SPEAKER_03That's a 28. Jesus, five.
SPEAKER_0728. This thing is, as it's like shocked, it doesn't die, but it does fall off the rafters. It's gonna take a little bit of damage.
SPEAKER_03I think that's all I'm gonna do.
SPEAKER_07Hell yeah. The basilisk crashes down in front of you all. It's going to roll to see if it gets its petrifying gaze back. You guys don't want a five or a six. Look at it.
SPEAKER_02It's a one! The one.
SPEAKER_07It does not get its gaze back. It is going to bound forward towards Lucy, probably. Uh, because it's the one that just shocked it like crazy.
SPEAKER_03Fair enough.
SPEAKER_07And it is going to bite. 13 to hit.
SPEAKER_03That does not hit. Lucy does a cool like swides, sidesteps it. Those? Because it's still connected with the the um electricity lightning rope. Yeah. And so it's kind of like she's like, has it lasso'd and so it's like still writhing underneath the rope, and so she's like holding it down.
SPEAKER_07As you like sidestep it, you're able to like still holding on the rope. Like you you can, if you want, try to get on top of it.
SPEAKER_03I do. I want to like soup soup. What's that called? Duplex?
SPEAKER_07You like scissor kick up there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, sublimate.
SPEAKER_07You get up there and you're now like holding the witch bolt and like lassoing it.
SPEAKER_03Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_05This ain't Lucy's first rodeo. Hey, good supination.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_07Next in the order is Janice.
SPEAKER_05I guess just keep holding him down for me, Lucy.
SPEAKER_02I got him.
SPEAKER_05Janice will just walk up to it and just start poking it in the eye repeatedly. And I shall take three eye pokes. I got a 16 of or sorry, that was 16 on the dice. So that's a 23, 14, and 19.
SPEAKER_07Two of those hit.
SPEAKER_09You could only hit twice because it only has two eyes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Oh, that's true. So I just went in. I got each 22 damage. Alright, 22 damage. I have I have a surgical knowledge of their eyes and I got them where it hurts. 22 damage? These are critical eye pokes. Yeah, 22.
SPEAKER_07Will you uh read how much hit points it had left?
SPEAKER_05Ah, 22 hit points left. How do you do it? Well, these just went from eye pokes to eye ripouts. Um so Janice reaches in and rips out the eyes and goes, I'm so tired of people with stone eyes turning people to stone. And then I shove the eyes in its mouth.
SPEAKER_03And then can I say that Lucy pulls on her rope and it also takes the head off?
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Absolutely. Yank off the head, bile starts spurting out of the neck.
SPEAKER_03Oh, and spray it at them. Yeah, yeah. And so I use my thigh. And I control the body to like spray on the bottom.
SPEAKER_05You're squeezing bile out like toothpaste.
SPEAKER_07I'm I'm feeling summer's day, and there's a fire hydrant that's been open.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's like I'm cantering on a horse. Yeah, Lucy's in a wet t-shirt.
SPEAKER_07Bile sprays over the entire room.
SPEAKER_05There was almost no blood in these things. They were they were all bile.
SPEAKER_12Their humors are out of whack.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they gotta get this balanced.
SPEAKER_07And as release the bile. So you see a couple of them um that it hits, like, do they come, they they un-petrify, but they do fall to the ground because they've been like nibbled on. So they they died like kind of separately. Because Shane's right, that's how they feed, they petrify and then they eat that. Oh but uh a couple of them are alive.
SPEAKER_03Uh yay! Yay. Oh my gosh! Uh um hi, are are you okay?
SPEAKER_07Having been petrified for longer, a lot of them are kind of like stunned and they're still like almost in their same position. Yeah, and they're kind of like like testing out movement.
SPEAKER_05Why don't we get you into some pews? Yeah, why don't we sit down?
SPEAKER_12Hello, priests of this place. We're here to help you.
SPEAKER_07Uh, you you help them into their seats. You also see on petrified is the fell priest, this figure that looks like uh Whisper.
SPEAKER_12I bet his name is Muffle.
SPEAKER_07As he um on Petrifies, he goes, Thank you so much for rescuing us.
SPEAKER_12Um are these like yeah, are these were these monsters plague-related, or were they just kind of here?
SPEAKER_08Give me a moment. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_09Do you know Whisper?
SPEAKER_12Yeah, sorry, what's your name, dude? Is it Muffle?
SPEAKER_08Hello, I am Wonder.
SPEAKER_12Wonder.
SPEAKER_08You all know Whisper?
unknownYou do.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, he's my dude.
SPEAKER_12We met him. Yeah, pat in passing.
SPEAKER_05I mean a few words. I dab him up. Tell me how long has it been? How is the plague? Not good.
SPEAKER_03Well, I I don't know how long it's been because I don't know what from what point you're referencing.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_09Good point.
SPEAKER_08I don't know how long I've been petrified. What's the last thing you remember? I remember. We came in here. I was tracking the movement of the plague, and then the basilisks showed up, and then nothing.
SPEAKER_05The basilisks are dead now, but it looks like they've been here a while.
SPEAKER_03Um, this is Janice. This is your guy.
SPEAKER_05Hey, Janice Apollon, uh, of of the Plutopolis Apollons. My mom's the councilwoman of the Druid Council.
SPEAKER_08Oh. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Um, anywho. Damn, wonder. Fucking big leak, my guy Janice over here.
SPEAKER_12I think that's what Janus needs a little bit. I never heard him say he was the Apollons.
SPEAKER_05Okay, well, um, just in case you knew, anywho, we're here to help.
unknownYeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_07Um, you see, at that time, the uh a couple of the Heliad people kind of walk up from behind you and like slap your back and go, Well, I'll be hot damn. Oh, I like these guys.
SPEAKER_03Were you just recently petrified?
SPEAKER_07We were petrified, I don't know how long ago, but they were already petrified when we came in and we were like, oh shit, we gotta be careful because there's petrification going on. Oh. And that didn't stop us from also getting petrified.
SPEAKER_05Wow, Lucy, they sound just like you said they would.
SPEAKER_07Did High Sun Georgiana send you?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we saw High Sun Georgiana.
SPEAKER_07Damn!
SPEAKER_01Ain't that a noon son?
SPEAKER_12Patch um pulls on Janice's sleeve and goes, um, Cersei isn't here.
SPEAKER_05Cersei isn't here. That's okay. Um she must have gone to do something else important.
SPEAKER_09Maybe she's in another room. We've only been in a two room.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we've only been in the inner s in the outer sanctum. Um, I want to run out and open, like look to see if the plague is still cascading outside the thing or if it's gone.
SPEAKER_07It is. It is. It's very much still there. It's still there.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so still plague here. We didn't really free the temple. We we we freed it from the the basilisks, but plague is still here. I want to roll Arcana to see if I can source where the source of the plague is coming from.
SPEAKER_07Great. Go ahead and roll Arcana for that.
SPEAKER_12Well, she's looking out there. Can Patch inspect the basilisk bodies and try to see if he can tell how it's related to the plague?
SPEAKER_07Make a uh investigation check.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Uh Rex would like to teach Wonder how to dab up. Please don't make it a dexterity.
SPEAKER_08What? Like this?
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_08What like this?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and then we clap.
SPEAKER_08Roll dexterity.
SPEAKER_05Fuck. Janice was just gonna talk to Wonder.
SPEAKER_07Great. Lucy, what did you get?
SPEAKER_03A 13.
SPEAKER_07A 13? With a 13, it seems that whatever you just did, it seems unrelated but advantageous. So the plague is still surrounding this building. Yeah. These basilisks don't seem to be like embodiments of plague. They seem to be basilisks that were brought here.
SPEAKER_03Okay. And with that 13, uh, because I was imagining that I'm like in I come back into the church and I'm trying to source or feel where the plague is like strongest inside rather than from the outside. I don't know if I can tell what's going on.
SPEAKER_07On the inside? So it it sort of doesn't seem to be emanating from a place inside. It seems to be just sort of a an effect outside, but you do see feel tiny emanations of plague coming from the altar. You see on the altar an almost like holographic map of Plutopolis. Um, and you see swarming in a similar pattern to what you would see if you looked outside are tiny little mites of plague. Okay. Patch.
SPEAKER_12Um, Patch has he has whipped up a little glass vial using one of his little magical tinkering things. And he scooped up a bit of of plague into the vial, and he's brought it over to the bodies, and he's like kind of just holding it up next to them and trying to see how it reacts.
SPEAKER_00Um he got a 29.
SPEAKER_07So with a 29, you notice a couple things. First, you notice that the plague uh does not seem to react. It's not shying away from them, it's also not going closer towards them. You also notice collars, thin, thin silver collars on these things with three-digit combination locks. You chopped off their heads so the collars can kind of just come off. And under the collars with a 29, you see brands.
SPEAKER_12Brands.
SPEAKER_07Each basilisk has been branded with uh the symbol of a black tower.
SPEAKER_12Guys, tire end!
SPEAKER_05You're right.
SPEAKER_12My favorite fucking place.
SPEAKER_05Tire ends.
SPEAKER_12All roads lead to the end. I mean, this is unbound, right?
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, it could be. There's also a big tower here.
SPEAKER_03A big black tower? Is it the same c same tower? Just different colors or different towers?
SPEAKER_09Maybe there's an identical tower underneath that goes deep into the earth that is the opposite.
SPEAKER_03You're right.
SPEAKER_09That would be chill. The mirror tower. That's really cool.
SPEAKER_03Uh Patch, does the tower on their on their neck look like the tower on this little holographic map of the city? Does it?
SPEAKER_09Uh, it does not.
SPEAKER_03It does not. Okay, Dyer Zend Tower. Or insert it into the Earth Tower.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, inserted into the Earth Tower would be chill.
SPEAKER_12I mean, uh uh that's I mean, we don't know where Dyer's End is, so either it's really close to here and they sent these monsters over here, which is concerning, or it's really far away from here and they sent the monsters all the way over here, which is concerning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Pretty concerning either way. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09But that means the unbound is involved, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Probably.
SPEAKER_07No. The Dyer's End you is not associated with the Unbound as far as you know. Dyer's End is Europhon.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's right.
SPEAKER_07Because it was on It was on the letter from Calidaeus too.
SPEAKER_05Which is not a bound.
SPEAKER_12Yes. Those losers.
SPEAKER_05We have so many bad people that we have to deal with. Anywho, uh, Wonder. I don't know how long you've been frozen here, but it looks like you were targeted by some people to put you out of commission. Whisper and my sister have been looking for the box of many things.
SPEAKER_08Whisper is on a fool's errand. Don't talk about my boy like that. Whisper and Wile both try their methods, and I have tried mine. None of it is working.
SPEAKER_05Who's Weil? Is that your Eyelis, brother?
SPEAKER_03Yes. And what were your methods that you tried?
SPEAKER_08I've been tracking the flight of the aboliths. He goes over towards the table that you were looking at, the altar, and he goes, I've noticed that they don't seem to be swarming with any particular pattern except around the chromatic palace. However, the chromatic palace was checked after it fell to the plague, and there was nothing there.
SPEAKER_12What are the abalysts? I mean, you didn't see them, Lucy, but there is these uh those big bulgy white uh monsters that we saw on the other side. I mean, I think that on this side they look like the plague c clouds, but but what are they?
SPEAKER_08That headstrong while he's embedded himself in the arcanery, and he is trying to figure out just that question. We don't see eye to eye on a lot of things. That wasn't what I meant. I didn't mean it like that.
SPEAKER_03Um questi um how's your relationship with Whisper? Are you guys friends or brothers? Do you do you ever feel betrayed by each other? Do you ever feel like this is a problem that you're trying to work out together and it's not going well and you get frustrated by that?
SPEAKER_08Absolutely. He is uh my brother in on death. We were tasked by our god in with retrieving this artifact which we were said to protect.
SPEAKER_12The box?
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_12Your god spoke to you?
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_12Directly?
SPEAKER_08Yes. And you heard it.
SPEAKER_12Yes. And he was he didn't make it like complicated or anything?
SPEAKER_08No, not at all. It was it was very direct.
SPEAKER_12It was very straightforward. He was like, hey, you're my champion, and here's what you need to do.
SPEAKER_08Well, given that we're all sort of uh dead.
SPEAKER_12Were you dead? I mean, sorry, this is too personal, but were you were you dead when you first started being um like his champions, or were you alive and then decided that we've been dead for thousands of years.
SPEAKER_03You were supposed to protect this box and you didn't. What happened?
SPEAKER_05It got taken from us. Where did you come from?
SPEAKER_09And where do you go?
SPEAKER_08And who took it? We come from an island in the Elsparian Sea that for a time never allowed visitors until one day, about 20 years ago, a ship landed and we took them in.
SPEAKER_07They opened the box and we made them close it. We we kicked them off. A few of them, a lot of them got sick and died, and we sent them on their way, not realizing that one among them had swapped the box with a fake artifact.
SPEAKER_12The Hellian leak?
SPEAKER_09Was it a shark pirate?
SPEAKER_12Was it a shark pirate and a little nerd guy and like an annoying woman?
SPEAKER_05She's so bad.
SPEAKER_07There were there were uh it was a group of them and they were under the lead of a man named Europhon.
SPEAKER_12Theyrifon started the plague? Why does it always come back to him? This is crazy.
SPEAKER_05He's a troublemaker. You know, I don't and I don't throw that around lightly. He's a troublemaker.
SPEAKER_07Um, so you guys also know.
SPEAKER_03Did we know that before?
SPEAKER_07Well, so it you didn't know that before, but it connects a few dots. You saw the log that was like Byron had it, sold it to someone, and then someone bought it, brought it back. You don't know who brought it back, but you do know that at some point Byron, who was on Europhone's crew, had the box.
SPEAKER_12And that explains why these basilisks came from them, assumedly.
SPEAKER_05Oh no. Rex, I have a question. What's up? We talked to Ruby. I thought you'd never ask. Are we still in a room? Is it safe here? Is it safe for you to stay here?
SPEAKER_08Given that the the plague probably thinks I'm dead, yes. This is probably one of the more safe places that we could be.
SPEAKER_12Are all the other priests what are you guys gonna do? Are you okay? Y'all okay?
SPEAKER_07I'm gonna go home to my family. I hope they have moved on from me and found a new new partner and father and and friend.
SPEAKER_05Okay. The plague's only been around for like a year. I think you're cool, dude.
SPEAKER_07Well, but who knows? My wife, she she is gung-ho.
SPEAKER_09Oh, Ruby. Hello! Hi, buddy. Janice got a question for you. Janice.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Ruby, uh, do you know the current council members of uh Plutopolis? Absolutely.
SPEAKER_07There is uh Senna Hercadius, there is Ebenezer Bones. Love him, love him. Pythia Apollon. That's my map. There is Dodd Rattley, neutral. Um, and there is General Trioctus. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05General Trioctus. He was a general in the war. Was he? Yes, he was. Was he involved with the Hellian League at all? Uh I believe he was on the side of the Hellian League. Yes. Gosh darn it.
SPEAKER_09The Hellion League doesn't mean bad. It just means that, you know, the people who were fighting on the Hellion side weren't like totally bad.
SPEAKER_03Does the Hellion League mean those specific, like, five people?
SPEAKER_07So Hellion League was like the alliance of city-states. Right. Yeah. And Plutopoulos was in that alliance. Got it. Um him be like a ton of people fought in the war and were like high up in the war that weren't on Europhon's crew.
SPEAKER_05That's sort of my follow-up question is were any of the members of the council close with Europhon? I'm most suspicious of the general, unfortunately. Um him being a high-ranking official. He's kind of your boy, too.
SPEAKER_12And it was suspicious. I remember Ebenezer Bones told us that he was working on the cure, and then Trioctus took over.
SPEAKER_07The uh rubric starts spinning in circles and goes, Yes, General Trioctus was the commanding officer for Europhone's Legion before uh he unfortunately had to leave the war early and returned home. He left early.
SPEAKER_03He left early.
SPEAKER_07What was the unfortunate event? Well, unfortunately, after sacking a village, one of the local priests of that village gave him a false prophecy, proclaiming that if he set fire to a room containing his son and his son's men, that the war would be over with no further bloodshed. He listened, believing this man, and unfortunately, as we now know, that was a false prophecy. So he returned not in disgrace, but pretty well in disgrace.
SPEAKER_03He killed his son? That's horrible. He burned his son and his men in a village?
SPEAKER_07Uh yes. Is that what you're looking for? Yeah, thank you you're very helpful, Ruby. Thank you. I'm gonna go back to sleep.
SPEAKER_05Love you, Ruby. You earned it.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_05I that guy sucks, dude. I don't know if I feel I it was a prophecy. I don't know. I don't know if I feel sorry for him or if I hate on him.
SPEAKER_09No, you can get you can feel sorry for people who get tricked.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but but I think there's a limit. If they kill their children.
SPEAKER_09That's a pretty bad trick, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I don't know how much how like, oh, I didn't know what I was doing. You knew what you were doing.
SPEAKER_09But I guess he was doing it for like a just cause. Like he was sacrificing his son so that no more bloodshed would happen.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, great. That that makes sense, Rack.
SPEAKER_09I'm just playing devil's advocate here.
SPEAKER_03Well, we don't need a devil's advocate. I'm s I sorry, I don't mean to yell at you.
SPEAKER_09It's okay. I yelled at you last night. We all yell at each other from time to time. That's right, my boy.
SPEAKER_10Try to dab him up again.
SPEAKER_07Um he hits it nice. Perfect.
SPEAKER_08He goes, I assume that based on your presence, my brothers have not completed their end of the mission.
SPEAKER_12No.
SPEAKER_08I told them it wouldn't work. They told me this wouldn't work. I guess we were all right.
SPEAKER_12I um well we're we're kinda looking for a whisper because Janus' sister was looking for him.
SPEAKER_05I think she was gonna ego scope out Ratley. Uh like was her initial thing when we saw her at her house. So if she's not here, she might have gone back to square one.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Well, I'm comfortable with that logic. So do we wanna go check out there, or do we wanna I mean what time is it? Is the bar open?
SPEAKER_07It's it's probably now like one or two. The bar's probably just now opening.
SPEAKER_05I gotta get the taste of this pile out of my mouth, so maybe we get some lunch and uh check out uh Arcadius.
SPEAKER_03Rex, you can advocate for the devil whenever you want. It's okay.
SPEAKER_09I kinda love Mogus sometimes, so like it kind of makes sense.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, sorry. I'll I'll listen next time.
SPEAKER_09We can disagree and still be besties.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, totally.
SPEAKER_09I agree with you, it's kind of fucked up. That guy killed his son.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_09No, not kinda. It's super fucked up.
SPEAKER_03Totally.
SPEAKER_09Well, you know, sometimes it's like, you know, people who are in cults like they're victims too.
SPEAKER_03True, true. And if you want to advocate for them, you can.
SPEAKER_09My new life mission.
SPEAKER_07So you guys head over to the uh place that your mom described as the bar that this guy frequents. You see, it is a brick wall with a thin opening where you can like put your hand in and open the wall like a door. Speakeasy style.
SPEAKER_09Speakeasy, I bet Whisper would love it here.
SPEAKER_05That's a good one, Rackley.
SPEAKER_07As you enter, you see this place is already hopping. Oh. You see um people carry drinks from table to table. You see there's a roulette wheel, you see a couple people are betting on miniature chariot races, you see some guys are rolling dice, and behind the bar a bartender uh cleans a glass.
SPEAKER_05This is my kind of place.
SPEAKER_03We gotta blow off some steam. This is heavy.
SPEAKER_05Why do they speakeasy bartenders always cleaning glasses?
SPEAKER_12Well, would you rather they have dirty glasses?
SPEAKER_05No, it just it just seems like you don't have to polish every glass.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that was clean.
SPEAKER_05Alright. And why do they all talk like that? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Uh, I want to go over to the um mini chariot racing. Patch wants to go to the dice table.
SPEAKER_05Hell yeah. Yeah, I mean, I guess we don't really know what the Herc looks like. I just assume that it looks like a sibling to Senna. So I'll keep an eye out for someone who looks like a dude Senna.
SPEAKER_04Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_12Because um, anyone in this bar, is there a reaction to us being infected? Are there other people?
SPEAKER_05I guess there are a couple infected people in here.
SPEAKER_12Hmm. Interesting.
SPEAKER_05Speakeasy. Kind of an underground place.
SPEAKER_12Speak easy.
SPEAKER_05Um I'll go to the bar, so I'll go like to the front so I can get a kind of a look at everyone, and I'll order a root beer.
SPEAKER_06You look like you're not from around these parts.
SPEAKER_05It's funny you say that because I actually am a local.
SPEAKER_06Really? Yeah, I'm from usually dead on about that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you're pretty off base.
SPEAKER_06I've you're from here?
SPEAKER_05Well, I'm from the suburbs.
SPEAKER_06Oh, well then that's kind of different, right? No. If you're from Long Island, you're not from New York, right? From what? His nose starts to bleed.
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah, no, I mean, like, it's one of the districts by uh He's from Sylvan Heights!
SPEAKER_07We got a boy from Sylvan Heights in here, lads. A couple of ruffians over on the other side of the bar go like, uh get out of here.
SPEAKER_05I love this place. I love this guy. I love this voice. What a what a colorful crew that you keep around this pup. They're my friends. I bet they are.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, would you like somebody to drink?
SPEAKER_05Um, yeah, not in the glass you've been spitting in. Oh, you got a problem with that. I mean, does I'm sorry, is that's the this cannot be a Sylvan Heights thing.
SPEAKER_06He looks, he looks at the glasses behind him and he goes, um, you're not in no matter how old the spit is.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Look, people are people are putting their mouths on all the glasses all day long. So maybe just re-wash one and that and not spit in it.
SPEAKER_06Alright, but I'll get better get a big tip.
SPEAKER_05Don't you worry, I'm a great tipper.
SPEAKER_06Porcy root beer.
SPEAKER_05Ooh, this is sweet.
SPEAKER_06What do you what brings a guy like you into a place like this?
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm looking for one of your regulars.
SPEAKER_06Really?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Um, Hercadius.
SPEAKER_07He um puts he reaches under the bar and puts a clothes sign in front of you and then just starts moving to the other end of the camera.
SPEAKER_05I I follow him as he's going. Yeah, you know, uh, Hercadius. Uh what about him? I'm looking for him. A lot of people looking for him. Well, are they are they here now looking for him? Because that's what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_06Well, he was here a few hours ago. He got run out. Ran out why? Those guys over there kicked his ass. Which guys?
SPEAKER_05Your your friends, those guys?
SPEAKER_06They kicked his ass because he was crying on the bar. What was he crying about?
SPEAKER_05He always comes in here and cries. He comes in here every day and cries over here.
SPEAKER_06Every day, gets a double at 10 a.m. and cries.
SPEAKER_03They open at 10.
SPEAKER_05They open at 10. I really should have gotten the hours off of my the the white pages, I guess.
SPEAKER_06Um other bars open later, but because we serve a kind of drunk clientele we like to open earlier for people who like to drink earlier.
SPEAKER_05Sure. I would say that that's considerate, but it's probably not the best thing for me to say as a medical provider.
SPEAKER_06All right.
SPEAKER_05Wait, why are you running away if you just got kicked out? Why are you?
SPEAKER_06That man annoys the fuck out of me.
SPEAKER_05Because of the crying? You know what? I was a statue like 25 minutes ago. It's fine.
SPEAKER_06No form for my wife, she's still a statue.
SPEAKER_05Well, that is really sad. I'm re- I'm sorry, that wasn't sensitive of me.
SPEAKER_07We're gonna we're gonna cut over to Lucy. Lucy, you go to the chariot races table.
SPEAKER_12What's looking good, folks?
SPEAKER_07Well, uh, looking at the odds are pretty good on Karanos' chariot. Alright. But there are there is an argument to be made for Erebos and Athrios and Afara's chariots. Oh. All of them have a shot. But be careful, the wily Phoenix may take the whole thing.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, okay. So here we go. We we pick which god of chariots we want, and that's the one that we do.
SPEAKER_07Yep, but uh no one can pick Phoenix. The more races you do, the more likely he is to take it all. House wins if Phoenix wins.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, okay, and uh and what's the buy-in?
SPEAKER_07Uh minimum buy-in is five gold.
SPEAKER_03Oh, alright. Well, I'll I'll give you fifty.
unknownOh, hot damn.
SPEAKER_07Who are you betting on? You want to see odds or you just betting? Most highly seated is Karanos with one to five odds, Erebos with two to five, Athros with three to five, and a fera with five to five.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I want it all on Afara.
SPEAKER_07Uh hot damn.
SPEAKER_03And uh, and then I want a message.
SPEAKER_08Whoa!
SPEAKER_11Hey, and if you know what's good for you, she's gonna win.
SPEAKER_08That a threat! Oh, yeah, it's a threat. I love to be threatened. Um I don't have control, it's like an arconic board. I just sort of uh take the bet.
SPEAKER_11Well, I don't have control, it's just kind of an arcana bolt of lightning through your chest.
SPEAKER_08No, you're like real threatening me.
SPEAKER_11Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_08Lucy's on one today. I love to be extorted.
SPEAKER_03Uh, that's a six.
SPEAKER_06The only thing I love more than being extorted is being shocked by lightning. So if you do that to me, that's cool too.
SPEAKER_02Alright, well, let's roll.
SPEAKER_07And we're off!
SPEAKER_02Come on, come on, come on!
SPEAKER_07See, the miniature um chariots are like phantom versions of these gods like going around this racetrack. Um, I need you to roll a d8, and I'm gonna roll a d20 to see if Fanax takes it all. Since you picked the hardest one, uh, you will only win if you roll a one.
SPEAKER_01Whereas I love how you picked the lowest odds, and now you're upset that you get the lowest odds. Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's based on how fast the horse runs, not on the roll.
SPEAKER_01That's what it is. That's how fast the horse runs.
SPEAKER_06What are you talking about? What are you talking about? What did you expect?
SPEAKER_07I want to know what you expected. Me to go, yeah, actually she wins. What are you talking about? That's what you wanted? You just wanted me to be like, you don't want to play the play a game about it. You don't want to gamble, you don't want to actually gamble. You want me to have picked something and be like, that's the one who wins the first time, that's the one who wins the second time, and it to be the one that's most advantageous.
SPEAKER_03When you explain it like that, I guess not. But I genuinely was surprised that I have to roll a certain number to win.
SPEAKER_01It's gambling. Lucy literally goes to gamble, or Sarah literally goes to gamble. We're playing a game that's fully dice-based.
SPEAKER_03Afara, if you can hear me, bless this roll. Give me advantage. That's a seven.
SPEAKER_06All right. Did I get you lose 50 gold?
SPEAKER_03Do I get advantage?
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_03My prayer didn't work?
SPEAKER_06It did not work. He goes, All right, 50 gold.
SPEAKER_03Uh, what's money anyway?
SPEAKER_06No, you have to pay me.
SPEAKER_03Uh, can I zap you?
SPEAKER_06Uh, well, I would like that. You would like it.
SPEAKER_08If you zap me, uh we can do a double or double or nothing.
SPEAKER_03Double or nothing? Okay, yeah. How about wait, double or nothing? How about I just zap you and then we play again?
SPEAKER_07With that same 50 gold.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Alright, 50 gold. Oh my god. But that only works once. That only works once.
SPEAKER_02You want me to roll again?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, uh, yeah. Who are you gonna pick? Uh odds are different this time. Keranos now is the lowest seated.
SPEAKER_03Uh what happened to that horse?
SPEAKER_07Um, he he uh has a cough.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_07Um the most likely is Erebos. The second most likely is Athros, third most likely is Ephara, and the fourth most likely is Kiranos.
SPEAKER_03Can I do two? Can I do half and half?
SPEAKER_07Put 25 on one, put 25 on another. Yeah. Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna pick my favorite gods.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_03So I like Afara. I've met her. She's really cool. Have you met her before?
SPEAKER_08Uh I've not met her before. I gambled.
SPEAKER_03Well, now I do two. And then the other one, I want to put it on Erebos because he's gonna stop this plague.
SPEAKER_07So if you get a two or a three, or a seven, eight, or nine, the ten.
SPEAKER_03I got a five.
SPEAKER_07Five? That is none of the ones that I made.
SPEAKER_10It's Athrios, isn't it?
SPEAKER_07So, uh, yes, it is Athrios. Atrios wins it.
SPEAKER_03Darn it. Give me another. Oh my clothes.
SPEAKER_06Okay, this time it's gotta be double or nothing.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_06Okay, who are you gonna pick?
SPEAKER_07It's uh least likely is Erebos, second least likely is Keranos, third least likely is Ethara, uh, and then the most likely is Athrios.
SPEAKER_03Alright, well you you keep it on your your second, right? Afara, I'm betting on you. And and also uh a little bit on Athrios.
SPEAKER_07How much on Atherios? 10. Because it's okay, cool, 10. So 40, oh, but it's double or nothing. So 90 on Afara and 10 on Athrios? Yeah. Okay, um, so if you roll uh seven, eight, nine, or ten, Athrios wins. If you roll a four, five, or six, a fera wins.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_07You owe me a hundred gold.
SPEAKER_06Arrow goes.
SPEAKER_03Alright, I know. I know, I know.
SPEAKER_06I want you to prove that you're good for it.
SPEAKER_03Money on the table, shoes on the floor.
SPEAKER_06If I was given No, but money on the table, but put your money on the table.
SPEAKER_03Okay, Patch. You have money. Oh, you're right. I I took some. What? Alright, I put my money on the table.
SPEAKER_07So this is the last, second, last round of all possibilities. After this, we shuttered the horse racing.
SPEAKER_02You're closing the casino?
SPEAKER_07Uh yeah. Well, I'm closing. I actually I've got an engagement at a at a children's school. Anyway.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna teach the kids how to gamble.
SPEAKER_03I'm hot. Let's go.
SPEAKER_06You have been losing. I feel like it is my duty as a professional to tell you that you have been losing.
SPEAKER_00Is it triple or nothing now?
SPEAKER_09Can Rex have walked over? Yeah, absolutely. Like walks over and be like, oh yeah, you got this wrong. It's always a synchronous, you know, it's always in the same order. They do this all the time. It's hey, Lucy, why don't you try to use this die? And I hand Lucy my liar's die, which allows advantage on gambling games.
SPEAKER_03Ooh.
SPEAKER_07You'll have to make a sight of hand check when you do it. Who are you putting your money on? All right, um So it's up to 200 now, because we'll say that it just keeps doubling.
SPEAKER_03Okay. This is gonna be big. Money doesn't matter. Money doesn't matter. You can find it wherever you want.
SPEAKER_09Money doesn't matter, Lucy.
SPEAKER_03Um, and I'm going to put it on uh Afara one more time.
SPEAKER_07Um, right now, she is the most likely for this round.
SPEAKER_03Alright, yeah, I'll do it all on Afara.
SPEAKER_07Okay, so if you roll a seven, eight, nine, or ten, okay, uh, you win.
SPEAKER_03And when I do it, I want to wink at the guy.
SPEAKER_07Whoa!
SPEAKER_03What's that for? Nothing. I'm just being charismatic.
SPEAKER_04Do you want to roll a sight of hand?
SPEAKER_03And charisma? No. Not for the wink.
SPEAKER_07No, no, I I think a wink isn't enough. He got a 16 on his perception.
SPEAKER_03Alright, I got a 20.
SPEAKER_07Okay, so he doesn't see you. As the dice falls, you see where it lands, and you use the dice's magic to like bring it back up into your hand like a yo-yo and keep rolling.
SPEAKER_03Also, I wink.
SPEAKER_07Also, you wink.
SPEAKER_06Oh no. That's tough. You wanna call it here? Because next you're gonna lose 400 gold.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Or win. Lucy, you could win 400 gold. Well, technically you're already down. You're right, Rex. So it's you know, I think you gotta do it, but I'll tell you who to do it on. Okay. Once I hear the odds.
SPEAKER_07Highest odds, Erebos, second highest odds, Afara, third, Keranos, and fourth, Athrios.
SPEAKER_03Which one you say, Rex?
SPEAKER_09Hey, you gotta dance with the the one you brought, Afara.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_07Alright, so you have to roll a four, five, or six.
unknownOh no.
SPEAKER_07Right. Phoenix didn't take it. How'd you do?
SPEAKER_03I won.
SPEAKER_07No.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I won.
SPEAKER_07I see, I see the thing.
SPEAKER_03Well, that horse was lame.
SPEAKER_07Oh no, he's a cool guy.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you're a I lost. It doesn't matter because we're all gonna die in a week anyway. Why am I talking like you?
SPEAKER_07Uh can I have your money?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, take it all.
SPEAKER_07Thank you. 400 gold.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_07I'm gonna use this to set up such a gambling empire that's gonna target the young. He starts folding up his board. Hey, just so you know, you got a week to live. Hot damn, one hell of a week it's gonna be. I'll see you later. Um, and he walks out like Harold Hill.
SPEAKER_09Uh sorry, I gave you some bad advice there. Patch.
SPEAKER_00Rex, buy me a drink.
SPEAKER_09You got it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so while that's all happening.
SPEAKER_12Patch isn't paying attention because Patch has gone over to the craps table. Yeah. Um, and he's just kind of looking over the shoulders. What uh what are we playing, fellow patrons?
SPEAKER_07We're playing a game called Baker's Dozen. Uh everyone has a six-sided dice. Okay. Two six-sided dice.
SPEAKER_12Yep.
SPEAKER_07And you're trying to roll to get 13. And you can keep rolling more and more.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_07Um, if you go over 13, you bust. You bust all over the place.
SPEAKER_12Okay.
SPEAKER_07But if you get under a 13, if the dealer gets closer, it's like it's blackjack. Okay. But for different numbers.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Oh, that's fine. Let's say buy-in.
SPEAKER_09Patch, you won't believe this. Lucy lost 400 gold. Oh my god. Minimum buy-in is 10 gold.
SPEAKER_12Okay. 10 gold. And I just roll D20s. You're D6s and try to get close to 13. And you're gonna roll and try to get close to 13. If I get closer to you, I win. Are the odds just double?
SPEAKER_07The dealer gets a six on the first roll. That's a good die. That's a good die.
SPEAKER_12Okay.
SPEAKER_07Um you don't see what the dealer gets for the second.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Do you have anything cool?
SPEAKER_07What?
SPEAKER_12Do you have anything cool?
SPEAKER_07Do I have anything cool?
SPEAKER_12That I can we can play for in exchange for my money.
SPEAKER_07Oh, so rather than getting money, you'd get something cool from me?
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_07I've got my watch. Okay, I'll I'll take the can tell time. And you don't even need a sun to do it. It's not even a sundial, it's a watch.
SPEAKER_12Okay.
SPEAKER_07Um I made it.
SPEAKER_12That's that's alright. Um, I'll take the money.
SPEAKER_07My wife left me because I spent all my time focusing on my watches. I thought I would make a successful watch career, but I threw it all into the gambling. Come to think of it, I think she actually left me for the gambling. I haven't really put that together until right now.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Um, I'm gonna put down um for a hundred.
SPEAKER_07Hot damn, okay. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_12So I roll one first?
SPEAKER_07Yep. Alright, that's a nine total. Do you wanna stay or do you wanna hit?
SPEAKER_12Is it meets it beats it rolls?
SPEAKER_07You can hit 13.
SPEAKER_12I'm gonna roll one more. Gotta um 12. I'm standing.
SPEAKER_07The dealer also stands with a 12.
SPEAKER_12I'm standing on 12.
SPEAKER_07It's a push. Uh I I think that your bet stays. Uh it stays in the pot.
SPEAKER_12Okay.
SPEAKER_07And doubles.
SPEAKER_12Okay. Sounds good. Insane.
SPEAKER_07Do it, Patch! After this, I'm gonna take this game over to an elementary school and teach children all the time.
SPEAKER_12They don't have money.
SPEAKER_07Oh shit, you're right! The dealer shows a six.
SPEAKER_12My first two is a seven. That's perfect. So I'm gonna roll again. That gave me an eight, so I'm gonna roll again.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_12So I'm at eight, thirteen. I stand. Patch is.
SPEAKER_07The dealer looks really fucking anxious right now.
SPEAKER_12Patch is rubbing his ears.
SPEAKER_07Ow, I busted all over the place.
SPEAKER_12Wait a won.
SPEAKER_07You won. Yeah! That means that there are 200 gold in the pot, so you get 400 gold.
SPEAKER_12I'll take it. I'm cashing out. Gimme!
SPEAKER_07Gimme! Net negative net zero for the party.
SPEAKER_12Um time to party for this game. This isn't the party's money. This is Patch's.
SPEAKER_09No, technically we're still down 200.
SPEAKER_07We cut back. To Janice at the uh bar.
SPEAKER_12Yeah! Yeah! Patchy's buying a new pair of shoes tonight!
SPEAKER_05That's my friend.
SPEAKER_06I would have expected it to be one of your friends, yeah. Alright, so um sorry, I don't know uh what else. Anything else you want from me?
SPEAKER_05No. I'm gonna go talk to your friends though.
SPEAKER_08Yeah!
SPEAKER_05Gosh, I don't like him already.
SPEAKER_08Remember when we beat up that guy like an hour ago? I love that.
SPEAKER_05Hey there, soldiers.
SPEAKER_12Patch is gonna clop over with his money.
SPEAKER_07You all, you all, uh, you all convene.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, what is it?
SPEAKER_05We're looking for a pee for Cadious.
SPEAKER_08This guy's looking for pee.
SPEAKER_07What is he?
SPEAKER_06Uh toilet? Right.
SPEAKER_05Good one, buddy. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12You may have seen him earlier. Perhaps prior. Back when there was hope in the world.
SPEAKER_05His name's Pryor. He cries a lot, I hear. Maybe we seen him, maybe we ain't. The bartender said that you saw him and you ran him out of here.
SPEAKER_09That fucking rat prior, more like Cryer, am I right, boys?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, he is a crier, man.
SPEAKER_05Don't bond with them, Rats.
SPEAKER_08Let him bond because maybe they'll see the information. Yeah, let us bond. Maybe they'll give him the information.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, maybe I could like use my persuasion on them.
SPEAKER_12Janus, you want some money?
SPEAKER_09I mean, sure, yeah.
SPEAKER_12I'll take some patch.
SPEAKER_09So, boys, this guy, Pryor, aka Cryer.
SPEAKER_06Right, right. Good nickname for him. He sounds stupid.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you guys I heard uh you told me that uh my friend Janice here told me that you beat beat him up earlier, right?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, we beat the hell out of him.
SPEAKER_09You know where that scoundrel is now?
SPEAKER_07He fucking hobbled out of here. He was bleeding when he left.
SPEAKER_09Oh, you think like you beat him so bad that there would be like a blood trail or something?
SPEAKER_06Oh, certainly. We beat the shit out of him. Oh my god, my brother. We love beating up nerds, um orcs, dweebs.
SPEAKER_09Oh, hey, can I ask you guys a question? Yeah. You guys go to college?
SPEAKER_07Uh yeah. We all have we all have degrees in graphic design.
SPEAKER_09Oh, it's swag. Did you guys any chance you guys uh join a fraternity?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, actually, we were in a fraternity.
SPEAKER_09Uh fraternity uh mode. OK!
SPEAKER_12Is there any other fraternities though?
SPEAKER_09No, it's only one. No, there's one for each god, of course.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but the other ones suck shit.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, some are sororities too.
SPEAKER_06We had nothing negative to say about that.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nothing negative, but like I love sororities.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, some of them, yeah, and we hang out, like it's normal, but it just walks away from this conversation.
SPEAKER_12It's a charity. I wish I still had my fedora so I could track down this blood trail. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Why would the fedora help? Bros.
SPEAKER_12Helps me get into character.
SPEAKER_09Uh I'm sorry. Uh, excuse my friends. Uh, bros, if there's any other helpful thing you could do for a fellow brother, that'd be so helpful to me, you know, in Mogus we trust. So, like, is there anything else, or are you guys just gonna like hang out here all cool?
SPEAKER_08Probably gonna hang out here all cool, man.
SPEAKER_09Alright, sweet. You guys keep hanging out here all cool, and we're actually gonna go find this blood trail, I think.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, follow that shit, man. Yeah, sweet.
SPEAKER_07That was a cool interaction. I love we did we all did good with each other.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, we bonded.
SPEAKER_07Um so you you leave from them. Are you guys following this trail? Is there anything else you want to do here?
SPEAKER_09Rex is gonna hit the head.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_07You hit the head. Nice. It's nice, it's normal, it's regular.
SPEAKER_09Recommend, guys. Uh, I don't know the next bathroom we're gonna see. You did that out of order. I know, but I kind of wanted to see the gambling. That's fair.
SPEAKER_03You said there was there was two, there was horse racing and dice.
SPEAKER_07And then a roulette wheel.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, let's do it.
SPEAKER_07One on roulette, yeah. Uh pick a number from one to twenty.
SPEAKER_12Patch is betting four hundred on Lucky 13.
SPEAKER_09Okay. 400 on 13? Yeah. I think, guys, excuse me, Patch? I think Patch has a gambling problem.
SPEAKER_12What are you talking? I know I just won this money, so it's like free money.
SPEAKER_05Are our odds one in 20?
SPEAKER_12Patch has a gambling problem, and I don't?
SPEAKER_05Janice isn't gonna bet then.
SPEAKER_09You you only lost a little bit of money.
SPEAKER_12I lost 400! You lost 400 gold, Lucy? I lost 400 gold! How'd you do that? Through the gods betraying me. Why didn't you stop after you lost?
SPEAKER_03Actually, Patch, what the heck? Sometimes you just try to again and again, even if you do lose, okay?
SPEAKER_12I won right away.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know, but not all of us can do that.
SPEAKER_07Um, is anyone else betting?
SPEAKER_09I would like to bet 50 on five and 50 on 17. I'll put 10 on 10.
SPEAKER_05I'll have a little fun. I'll be loose.
SPEAKER_12I'll do 300 on the five. Out of 300 on the floor. Loose Janice. Loose Janice.
SPEAKER_03Uh, I'll uh I want to bet it all, but I don't want to bet it all.
SPEAKER_09Wait, Lucy, here's what you do. Put one gold on each of them, and that means you're gonna win and lose 19. But um you'd still end the day a winner.
SPEAKER_03No, I'll do 20 on 20.
SPEAKER_07Who wants to roll this for me in the creative faith? I'll do it. You're looking for uh 13, 5, 17, 10, or 20. A six.
SPEAKER_12Oh.
SPEAKER_07You all lose a bunch of money.
SPEAKER_05Down, down, down, down, down.
SPEAKER_12Well, you know something I've learned is that money comes and money goes. Shut up, Patch! Oh! Oh, now you're surprised. I'm not surprised. I'm I'm thrown off by your tone. Well, sometimes people have a tone, okay? What's your tone about? Well, my tone is that you were rubbing it in my face that I lost. Oh, I'm sorry. I thought we were joshing. No, you didn't. You were doing it on purpose.
SPEAKER_09Patch, you sinned and now you must atone.
SPEAKER_12Do you want some money? No. Well, then I don't know how to fix my problem, my mistake.
SPEAKER_03I think that's just how it is.
SPEAKER_07Well, I'm taking the roulette wheel and I'm getting out of here.
SPEAKER_03Good thing you we're here. We're all feeling better now.
SPEAKER_07He's going to preschool. Would you like a little bit of candy?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_07Alright.
SPEAKER_03Do we have to bet for it?
SPEAKER_07No, I just like to. It's just a little bonus I add at my table.
SPEAKER_03Uh, I pop it in my mouth.
SPEAKER_07It's good.
SPEAKER_03Nothing wrong with it?
SPEAKER_07No, it's nice caramel.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I want to worth this right now. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Park a lip worders in my lip. Lucy, come on. Bring it in. We gotta we gotta follow the blood trail.
SPEAKER_12Lucy, I'll Lucy, I'll give you money.
SPEAKER_03It's not about the money. I wasn't trying to be mean. It's not about the money. It's it's the it's when the money is more important than the people.
SPEAKER_12Oh, well. Um my money's not. Well.
SPEAKER_05You know the people that are important. This guy who's bleeding that we're trying to track down.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we're coming, Janice. We're coming. We're coming.
SPEAKER_07Uh so make a survival check, whoever's leading the track. And I'll say do it with an advantage, assuming everyone's helping.
SPEAKER_09I don't have good survival. Yeah, we don't actually know about each other's survival yet.
SPEAKER_07No, so this is actually completely Yeah, I have unknown survival.
SPEAKER_09I have uh yeah, I have unknown, but I've got 26. 26? Yeah, you see.
SPEAKER_07Well, we know something. Like, you know, in Assassin's Creed, when you go into like your predator vision, it's called Eagle Vision. Eagle Vision, thank you so much. Um I didn't know that. Um you see like the glowing trail of blood, and it seems to lead uh down under the bridge.
SPEAKER_12You see a glowing hay bale where we can hide and jump off the tower. Yes.
SPEAKER_06You see a couple of guards walk by and go, We're like we're in Florence, Italy.
SPEAKER_12And one of them is gold because you gotta kill him. I'm not gonna kill this guard.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, so it it the the trail leads down under the bridge. As you follow it, this is the bridge that leads to the noble district. There are some like buildings down here. It's like derelict as shit because it's like right by the water. So it, you know, when the tide rises, a lot of these places get flooded and stuff. They're out here, they're right next to the barges. Um, and you see that the blood trail leads into an alley of sorts.
SPEAKER_05Well, I guess let's go down. Wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_12Wait, wait, wait, wait. Should Rex or and another one of us, or is uh some combination of us, go to the other side of the alley?
SPEAKER_07It is a dead end. Never mind.
SPEAKER_12Never mind. Good thought, Patch. That was actually Lucy. I appreciate you.
SPEAKER_09I bet there's a magic door. I just have been thinking a lot about magic lately.
SPEAKER_07Well, let's go see if there's a magic door, Rex. Do your thing. As you approach down the alley, you see a large pile of rubble. And on this pile of rubble, you see a few like weird bundles, like things that look like they were like almost cocooned. Oh. And you see a body strewn out in the room.
SPEAKER_05Ah man. Uh Janice runs in and checks to see if he's alive.
SPEAKER_07Um, so you run in. Um, where's everyone else?
SPEAKER_12Patch runs in to check his pockets.
SPEAKER_09Uh Rex is feeling around on the stone to try to find a magic door.
SPEAKER_03Luce's at the mouth of the alley.
SPEAKER_07Got it. So Rex, you uh start feeling around the walls of the alley. Um you don't feel anything suspicious. It's kind of cold. Um it just in the way that it's stoned by water. Uh it's a little bit wet. Um Patch, you're uh fishing through the pockets.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, we're looking for I mean Patch is actually trying to find like if he has an ID or something on him. Okay. And if he has his real ID.
SPEAKER_07You fishing through the pockets, you see a uh uh uh a letter that seems to be like, you know, written to be sent. Like you see that it's in an envelope. Um opening it, the date is like weeks ago. Janice, as your like go ahead and roll a medicine check.
SPEAKER_12Guys, I'm gonna read his mail.
SPEAKER_07Guys, I'm gonna find his magic door.
SPEAKER_12I Yeah.
SPEAKER_07I'm gonna be in the mouth of the alley. Uh 16. This body in front of you cannot be who you're looking for. Because this body has been dead for months. And you see that it's got hollowed out eyes when you like get up close to it, and you look to the side, to the two like kind of bundles here, and you see that they're like cocoons almost. Out of one of the cocoons is hanging a hand with a signet ring on it that has an H.
SPEAKER_05Arcadius.
SPEAKER_07And as you notice this in front of you, the body starts to rise. Not stand up, but rise. As you see it turn upside down, and a massive arachnoid with sharp legs pulls itself out from under the rubble. You see that some of the rubble is like almost a camouflage situation.
SPEAKER_12We're in a spider's web.
SPEAKER_07Um, as this NOSC stands up before you with this dead body hanging upside down as its head. Let's roll for initiative.
SPEAKER_06And that's where we're gonna end the session.
SPEAKER_09I rolled really well too. I was like, yeah, we're getting more one more combat tonight?
SPEAKER_03I thought you were gonna take a breath and say, and that's where we're gonna end. And then you said, let's roll again, and then it was like, and now we're ending. You faked us out. It was so good.
SPEAKER_07This I have been, this was originally gonna be an encounter in the labyrinth. Oh, but uh, you didn't go to that room, so I was like, I'm going to save it.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if I should ask you now to describe the questions that I have about it, or if I should save that for the next episode. Let's save it for the next episode. But I'm so interested.
SPEAKER_07Well, thank you all so much for listening.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, thank you. Thank you.
SPEAKER_05Thanks for listening.
SPEAKER_07Um, as always, uh, you can uh find us on Instagram at trying our quest. At trying underscore our underscore request. Uh you can find us on Patreon at patreon.com slash trying our quest.
SPEAKER_00Just normal. Just normal.
SPEAKER_09Just no underscores. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02You didn't tell me this.
SPEAKER_07We did, we texted about it in the group chat.
SPEAKER_12No, you didn't.
SPEAKER_07We did.
SPEAKER_03You were probably busy.
SPEAKER_09I wasn't there either.

SPEAKER_04Thank you. Bye-bye. Bye.
SPEAKER_03I say that the same way every time. No, you don't. I mean, it's different every single time. Notably different every time.
SPEAKER_07The rest of us say it similar most times. Every time you say it, you find a new inflection to put on. It's it's a different pacing.
SPEAKER_05The only consistency is that it's different. I think while you were saying that, I was thinking, oh, she said it different again. Yes.
SPEAKER_12I was waiting to see how is Sarah gonna say it this time.
SPEAKER_07Because you'll like you'll put in like, you know, uh uh Captain Kirk pauses. Yeah. Like sometimes you'll be like, I play Lucine not, and it makes it sound like you're not playing Lucianae. It's really fun.
SPEAKER_12And sometimes you'll go, I'm playing Lucy, not this is all positive.
SPEAKER_07Oh my goodness. Just the opposite of what you said.
SPEAKER_03Of what I yeah, because in my head, I was like, oh, we're doing the thing again.
SPEAKER_07Oh no.
SPEAKER_03Oh shit, here we go again. Trying to make it different, and then it came out the same way. But I think it's it did not do that. I guess you can't remember that.
SPEAKER_05Lily, we're gonna need a supercut of Sarah introducing the colour. I'm already thinking about it. I'm already thinking about it.
SPEAKER_0327, about to be 28. I think I have vocal dysmorphia, maybe. Or auditor auditory dysmorphia, maybe.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, sure. All of them.
